The note is not only for the memorial itself but for the free guided tour the ranger gave us. This is the newest memorial in DC and has a particular meaning in the actual situation. The statue was hand carved by a Chinese sculptor, one of the few that now-a-days can hand carve such a big piece of rock. Its... More

Wonderful site beautifully done. Visited on MLK weekend and very glad I did. King quotations throughout the memorial were profound and a definite reminder of the struggles of the past and present.

I am a huge MLK fan and I work in Beijing and my students have all heard of MLK and if they haven’t, I sure do give them highlights. I was glad to bring my wife here who also is in awe of his life, achievements and also saddened by his short but meaningful life. The monument is so forthcoming... More

I went to D.C. over MLK weekend specifically to see the MLK monument. I was moved by the monument and so pleased that there is a monument for Dr. King

this was well done but not along the same theme of architecture as the majority of memorials in DC. It stands alone. I liked it but it lacked a certain emotion that I feel this man deserves.

This memorial has something that brings humbleness, and makes you think about what it would be like if MLK was still alive. Peace, calmness, and thinking of MLK's teachings and famous phrases is what comes to mind when you visit this memorial.

When I consider visiting a place, I often look at the negative Tripadvisor reviews first and several were very critical of the design of the memorial and specifically the appearance of Dr. King's face. I don't agree. I found his face to be contemplative and full of determination and it made me sad all over again that he didn't live... More

Very thoughtful words written by Martin Luther King Jr displayed, to be read and thought about by visitors. Well worth a visit.

This was an amazing memorial. My favorite one in the city. It's just across the way from the Lincoln Memorial nestled in between the National Mall and the Basin.
