Visited at night. Interesting way they created his sculpture. A must visit while in DC. I think better at night then daytime.

The memorial is great to visit during the day, and at night. Our guide shared great bits on knowledge about the meaning behind it. The carving broke from the rock of despair, and is facing the water of endless hope. His legs were not finished to symbolize the fact that his work was not done.

Haven't been to DC since the 8th grade- what a beautiful city. I recommend everyone visiting the city. My kids loved touring the memorials. We did a huge loop starting at the Jefferson Memorial to the Washington Monument. It took us about 3.5 hours. Well worth it!

After seeing the various dead President memorials, we visited this MLK memorial. The split mountain path leading to the big carved out image of Martin Luther King Jr. was very powerful and moving. Flanked on either side by his famous quotes carved in granite and a beautiful view of the tidal basin, the experience was an overall great testament to... More

The Memorial is a fitting tribute to a great man, and the walls that are inscribed with some of his most memorable quotes will certainly get you to thinking......

One of the newest memorials in DC, MLK Jr. Memorial is no less impressive than its more famous counterparts! The full-body statue of the Civil Rights movement leader is as monumental as his contribution to the progression of freedom in the United States. Behind him is a boulder, cleanly split in the middle, just as Martin Luther King Jr. has... More

Actually ran into this attraction while visiting the cherry blossoms. Very nice. In an interesting location, but there are signs that direct you to it. It has a statute of MLK as well as his many inspirational quotes. Very refreshing.

When I first saw images of this memorial before visiting, I was a bit underwhelmed and thinking we could have done better by Dr. King. But seeing is believing. This memorial has a prime location beside the Tidal Basin. So, if you're walking down from the Lincoln or Korean vets memorials, you'll eventually hook a right to cross the street.... More

This is near the other memorials so you aren't going out of your way to see it. Not as impressive as many others.
