More
The Capitol is among the most architecturally impressive and symbolically important buildings in the world. The Senate and the House of Representatives have met here for more than two centuries. Begun in 1793, the Capitol has been built, burnt, rebuilt, extended, and restored; today, it stands as a monument not only to its builders but also to the American people and their government.

We went by the offices of our GA senators and were lucky enough to get tickets to sit in on sessions in the Senate and the House. An educational experience, for sure!

The tours are mandatory to enter the capitol. The tours are free and very well organized. Within 1 hour, you get a good sense what is happening in there and how it evolves over time.

Easy to make reservations online. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, with just enough humour to keep it light and interesting. Can't go into the current houses, just the old ones, but that's ok, it's more about the history than the current. Take the tunnel...More

We took the Metro from our hotel in Arlington to see the vast history. Walking up to that Capitol building was breathtaking in itself. I have seen it on TV and in movies for years, but it just didn't do it justice. The tour was...More

There is a lot to see at the Capitol, and the best way to see it all is by calling your congressional office and arranging a tour with them. Usually, the office staff assistant or an intern will give you the tour, and they are...More
