The first thing we do when we go to DC is check out the schedule at the Kennedy Center. (Truth be told it would be wise to do that before getting there!) The building and surrounds alone are worth seeing. There are daily free performances at 6:00 PM that provide exposure for excellent stars in the making. And there are... More

The Kennedy Center has become our cultural refuge. So far, we have seen some plays and a musical, The Lion King. They always have superb shows. Though there is a cafe/restaurant, we haven't tried it yet. One of my favorite things to do is to walk around the terrace and enjoy the picturesque panorama of D.C. Besides, they have free... More

Not only is the JFK Center beautiful, but it is committed to fostering emerging young artists. I was able to see a live performance free of charge--with a free shuttle ride during my quick trip to DC. What a fine instituation! Thank you, Kennedy Foundation.

Saw a show in the evening walked around and enjoyed the cafe upstairs. Returned for a walking tour which we enjoyed; very amicable and knowledgeable guide. Free music at 6 pm.

We went to see the NPR's A Jazz Piano Christmas at the Terrace Theater. It was an excellent show by the great jazz pianists performing their favorite holiday songs with Harold Mabern, Kris Davis, Lynne Arriale and Cyrus Chestnut. As a group we enjoyed Cyrus Chestnut the most as well as the new comer Kris Davis. The theater was almost... More

We attended a matinee of the Nutcracker today. It was terrific! The Kennedy Center is a great place to see ballet because the seats are roomy and comfortable, the staff are extremely helpful and the views of the stage are great. We sat on the 1st tier and felt we were in a perfect spot. No it's not cheap but... More

We had been looking forward to attending a free show at the Milenneum Theatre, but when we got there we were told it here were no seats. When explaining that two of our party had disabilities we were told that we could sit on the floor! As it was we sat in the lobby to listen for a while, but... More
