This museum has one of the most enjoyable collections of art and compares favorably with much better known places. If I had to choose between the National Gallery and the Phillips Collection, it would be no contest. The Renoir painting "Luncheon of the Boating Party", several Van Goghs and Mark Rothkos are some of the highlights of the collection. The... More

The Phillips is one of our unvarying go-to places anytime we visit D.C. Like the Frick Collection in New York, it offers a stunning array of artistic treasures in a quiet, manageable setting — a family mansion converted into an art museum. Museums like this perform a valuable service to an urban community in allowing one to slip away from... More

Amazing collection of art in the Phillips Collection. The impressionist collection is my favorite and so lucky to have Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party locally. That alone makes this museum a must visit. Don't overlook it on a visit to D.C.

If you are tired of large museums and monuments take metro to Dupont Circle and enjoy an intimate visit at The Phillips Collection - you can also have lunch in the cafe or walk over to Teaism.

This museum might be overlooked by out-of-town visitors, but it shouldn't be. Looking at art in an intimate space, this place is such a gem. Easy walk from duPont station Metro, nice neighborhood, and then you get there and its wonderful.

How do I put into words how much i treasure The Phillips Collection? I have been going to this museum for 30 years since my college days in DC when I would ride the bus from Georgetown to DuPont Circle.. later when I got an apartment in Dupont Circle, I could just walk over.. This museum is a private institution.... More

The Smithsonian Museums, of which there are many, are awesome. But, Washington DC has many private museums that are equally good. The Phillips Collection is one of them. Don't miss it if you have time. It is located a block off Dupont Circle. When I went, Jacob Lawrence's Migration Series was being exhibited along with Whitfield Lovell's Kin Series. Both... More

I've been to DC many times, very often to see one of the blockbuster shows at the National Gallery. Like most big cities, one never has enough time to do everything in a single visit, and I can only assume I was too exhausted to get over to Dupont Circle to visit the Phillips. With the entire Jacob Lawrence "Migration... More
