The Enid A Haupt Garden is a delightful little green refuge tucked away amongst the throngs of tourists. Located behind the Smithsonian Castle Visitors Center (between Independence and Jefferson), the garden is a lovely spot to take a breather from the frenziness just outside its gates. The day we visited we were on a search for tulips and found them... More

When your mind is super-saturated and your feet numbed by the museums on the Mall, take a break in the Enid Haupt Garden behind the Smithsonian castle and enjoy the kind of floral display made famous by the Victorians. Though something of an horticultural anachronism in the 21st century, the garden's geometric perfection and floral exuberance are always refreshing --... More

Located behind the red brick Smithsonian Castle on the National Mall, directly above the Sackler Gallery and just next to the Freer Gallery, the Haupt Garden holds a perfect spot from those tired from taking in all the sights of DC. Its so relaxing, beautiful, and calming, you'll find yourself spending much more time here than anticipated. In warmer months,... More

Even in late fall, the garden has its charms. Otherwise, Spring and Summer are when plants are at their best. You can cut through the garden to get from the museums on Independence Avenue to The National Mall. It's about 100 yards/meters from the Smithsonian Metro Stop.

This is a nice little gem of a garden to stroll through or to sit and get some rest in between visiting the museums nearby.

Lovely green space with lots of photographic opportunities for the castle building. There are also several tables and benches so great place to come and eat- there is a small cafe located in the Smithsonian Castle building as well. Convenient to Sackler gallery as well.

This garden is out the back door (south) of the Smithsonian Castle. It is a peaceful and quiet area with beautiful garden landscaping that is actually the roof of the underground Sackler and African Art museums and the connecting space between them. It doesn't take long to walk it so definitely take a few minutes to be there whenever in... More

We found this by accident while walking to the air museum a few blocks away. It caught our attention as there is a cafe and it was very very hot. The cafe is very nice and the food was excellent (although not cheap). Once fed and watered we walked through the gardens and they really are beautiful. If passing pop... More

An excellent hidden gem of an attraction . The lantana itself smelled wonderful . Otherwise , nestled between the Smithsonian offices this collection is rather inclusive and well laid out . Worth a visit for sure .

Beautifully laid out colourful gardens. A delight to walk through admiring all the plants and sculptures in amongst the foliage. Nice place to stop for a drink and ice cream to enjoy your surroundings more.
