A nice, almost local, zoo

I went into visiting the "National" zoo prepared for a San Diego Zoo level experience. Do not make that mistake. This is an urban zoo, and is smaller than many of the well known... read more

What a fantastic place to visit, the Panda's are fabulous and great to see. I would recommend getting there early to see them while they are feeding, like most of us they appear to sleep a lot after a good meal....! The layout of the park means it is a good walk and the exhibits are well spaced out but... More

I loved seeing the pandas! They were amazing. Lots of great animals. A very fun morning. Don't let the "free" price fool you though. There is no cost to get in, but $22 to park, and $5 for a map, plus anything else you buy.

Our family enjoyed spending the day at the zoo. We had a great time and enjoyed many of the exhibits. You can come early and see the animals in the early morning as well. It was cold when we came so some of the animals were not out, but we still had a fantastic time!

Have a 7 year old that is basically non-verbal but he loves animals and can name each and everyone. Good family fun, exercise, education and overall one of our Nation's Capital's Must See Places...

We went on a Family Trip for my Son's Birthday. We booked the "Panda Package" through the Omni Shoreham Hotel which was Fantastic. The rate was good - the Contents of the "Panda Gift" were well worth it - Really Great Overnight Stay if you can make it happen. We split the Zoo into 2 days and both days were... More

I went into visiting the "National" zoo prepared for a San Diego Zoo level experience. Do not make that mistake. This is an urban zoo, and is smaller than many of the well known zoos. Saying that, it was still an excellent zoo. Everything but parking and food are free. I greatly enjoyed the primate houses, and was really impressed... More

As a break from all the museums, monuments, and memorials, we decided to end our week with a visit to the National Zoo. First time ever going to a zoo with snow on the ground. Our favorite exhibits were the lions (who skillfully played soccer with a metal keg like container for a long time, including trying to get it... More

The spotlight of the zoo is the panda bear. Sometimes it's hard to see; but, today out and about. Most of the snack areas were not open and many if the exhibits were either closed or empty.
