The National Mall (not a shopping mall) consists of all of the DC's major attractions including the Smithsonian museums as well as the Washington Monuments and Lincoln Memorial. It spans over a about 2 miles or so, so get your walking shoes on. There are plenty of food vendors but as expected they are expensive. Traffic is kept to a... More

The Mall connects the Capitol Hill to Lincoln Memorial.. There is much to see, enjoy and experience through the walk. You come across people of different nationalities and age. You have street vendors through out the mall to satisfy your hunger and thrst. As we walked on a hot August afternoon the vendors were useful. There are beautiful ,mammoth buildings... More

I've been to the National Mall many times and I always love it. The history, the people, the city! So many people come from all over the world to experience DC and this is a must on your tour through this town.

We walked this on a very hot day which was tough but there is so much to see and do. It took us the day but we could easily spend longer.

Smithsonian museums, the Capitol, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the reflecting pool... This is where many of the famous landmarks of Washington DC are! It's a lot of walking to get from one end to the other, on top of walking around the museums, so wear comfy shoes!

When we arrived in mid June 2016, the Mall was a building site; all sand and gravel and surrounded by builder's temporary mesh fencing. What a joke! Who allowed the building programme which spanned an entire spring and summer peak season? Where was this closure advertised for visitors' benefit? Most unimpressed!

Was disappointed that some of the mall in some areas had orange construction material around it. They were doing construction on the mall in places this trip. Several areas were taped off this trip. Wasn't very beautiful for our pictures. Disappointing.

It connects the Capitol with the Lincoln Memorial. You can also access easily to Arlington Cementery from there.

Walking along the mall, it was partly under construction and the walk was long and hot. The most disturbing thing was the smell - I don't know if it was some toilets somewhere but it smelled really bad...
