With an amazing weather, this is a great place to take a walk and check out the scenery almost any time of the year. In fact, if you are good with cold weather, it's definitely quite a view during snowing days.

We took a walk just after the cherry blossoms had finished, luckily there was still a pink tree or two but it was a beautiful walk. We stopped at all the memorials along the way and it must have taken us 3/4 hours... longer than expected but well worth it.

Seeing the Cherry Blossoms in the Tidal Basin is the best DC experience there is. April is the main tourist time in DC so you'll have to make reservations early and maybe not in DC proper and use the outskirts in MD and VA by using hotels close to Metro. Depending on the area you like, you can find great... More

I went here in the winter, so did not enjoy it as much as in nicer whether, however, having no crowds was very nice. Great view of the Washington Monument, and at night can also get the monument's reflection in the water.

Start counting the days till this is the spot. Beautiful and quiet with a wonderful view. Even nice on a winter day though.

At any time of year, the walk around the Tidal Basin is pleasant, and paved. Even in a light rain, the cherry trees provide shelter and the walk can be pleasant. Summer, older children? Paddle boats. Cherry blossoms -- best just before the peak and the crowds when the pink and green are brightest together. Or if you have come... More

When visiting Washington, D.C., discriminating tourists should set aside one day to leisurely walk around the Tidal Basin and take in all of the wonderful attractions. Then, on another day, visit the adjacent National Mall. If you want to see it all--and there is so much to see--you can't possibly do both in one day. We discovered that three days... More

It is a nice walk around the Tidal Basin and provides a great backdrop for some of the Memorials including the Thomas Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial and the F. D. Roosevelt Memorial. You can download map of the Tidal Basin area and plan your itinerary for visiting the Memorials around the the Tidal Basin. As a standalone... More

A great place to walk and a centerplace for great photos. It really is something you can't miss and should use as an element of many of your best photos of the DC monuments.

The Tidal Basin is located a little south of the National Mall, but should be explored at the same time. Like the Mall itself, the Tidal Basin has great walk paths which roughly follow the waters edge, and at the same time offer great viewings of the MLK, FDR, Jefferson, and George Mason memorials.
