Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very quiet and nature is prominent. Birds chirping and black squirrels roaming around. Nice step suitable for good picture shootings.

I read about this and specifically went looking for them. Interesting architecturally, it is a short staircase with a fountain in the middle. A good side trip if in the area.

When we left President Wilson's home the guide suggested that we take the Spanish Steps. They weren't anything special to seek out.

Nothing major but it can be a romantic spot for some. Not like the famous Spanish Steps in Rome but it's cute

I had heard about the Spanish Steps and made it a point to go find them. I think my expectations were too high. While they weren't a disappointment, I was glad I hadn't gone too far out of my way to seek them out.

Essentially a small side street leads to the stairs which encircle a fountain, then connecting to the street above. Either side of the stairs and street are landscaped, however, there was a lot of litter in the gardens.

It was a busy place when I visited. Dogs, tourists, walkers, runners. Perhaps at night it is more serene and the view from the top more spectacular. As it was, all I could really see was the view down the street and a few tall buildings in the distance.

The surrounding area is lovely, chockful of embassies and grand residences, and perfect for an afternoon or evening stroll.

The Spanish Steps is also known officially as Decatur Terrace. According to the fact sheet, this is the only steps in Washington DC to be built on land dedicated for street (in this case 22nd street) to connect the two streets together (S street and Decatur Terrace). The name "Spanish Steps" because the steps was built to resemble the Renaissance staircase in Rome. It is a small area tugged in between old buildings and Embassies and Ambassadors' residence linking upper Embassy Row to the lower Embassy Row and DuPont Circle area. When travelers are in DuPont Circle for entertainment and eating during day time, include the Spanish Step in the agenda. Many flags of countries in the world in many of the buildings, test you world knowledge of nation and sit down at the Steps to view lower DuPont area.

certainly not like in Spain but seeing them as a way to get up a steep section of street, I was glad to have found them
