This is one of my favorite places in DC. The Thomas Jefferson Building within the Library of Congress is one of the most impressive buildings in the United States. The architecture is reminiscent of great European cathedrals, a rarity in the US. The free guided tour is full of interesting information about the Library and DC itself, I highly recommend... More

It is a National Treasure. The mosaic art and and marble columns are spectacular. There is an exhibit with a replica of Thoma Jefferson's actual library which he donated. It is one of the most impressive buildings in DC and that's saying something in since the city has so many gems. We did not get passes to go into the... More

WOW!!! Pictures do not do this beautiful building justice! The architecture is amazing. You can't actually touch the books on the tour but you can get up close to some of Jefferson's personal book. Note, any book with a green bookmark, was once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

As part of the visit to the Capital building, a visit to the library is a must. You will not be disappointed. The architecture is simply stunning. There are a number of exhibitions to view quite apart from the collection of books.

As a librarian I loved this place. I did a free tour which was incredibly informative. It is a really beautiful library. I loved walking through the tunnel to The Capitol. The gift shop was great too.

Your Guide really will give you a great overview about the building and if you are like us, you will be flabbergasted at the extent and detail to which the designers went with this building. This is absolutely a must-see on your tourist agenda for DC.

A must see and only behind Capitol Building. Wish we'd done a tour but just looking round with the guide brochure is fine too.

Nothing to see. Cannot get close to actual books. You can see Thomas Jefferson Library bookshelves in closed shelving to read titles that is the closest to any books

The Library of Congress is a stunning piece of architecture inside and out; however, the actual "library" is only visible through an attic-level glass enclosure at the top of several sets of stairs. Use the elevator if you have any balance, vision or stamina issues. We saw a senior gentleman who had fallen because both the stairs and flooring are... More

Library of Congress is the 'Mother of All Library's'! It is the most famous, the most voluminous and the most visited library in all of America! I copyrighted a volume of poetry there 20-some years ago under 'Mr. Bill's Poetry'. The Library of Congress is just amazing, just make sure you get your Reader Card. It is in between the... More
