It is wonderful to both see the the style and grace of this building. The books on display are both surprising as well as inspiring. There are lots of stairs to climb. There is a souvenir shop but nothing particularly interesting and pricy. Free entrance

Went here on a weekend trip to DC and found it enjoyable. Probably only need to see once. Not the best, or most interesting, thing in DC, but if you have never been you should you.

If in DC, do not miss a visit to our Nations Capital. It is not near any museums but if using the Metro just hope on head to the Capital. There is a tunnel connecting the Capital to the Library of Congress, also worth the...More

I'm embarrassed to say that as a lifelong DC resident, I had never been to the Library of Congress until last week. I was invited to a luncheon there so was excited to finally see the inside of the building. I was immediately awestruck! The...More

The building is architecturally stunning. In addition to the paintings and statues it's worth your time to go through the Library of Congress. you have access to almost every book ever copyrighted in the United States, however most books are stored offsite and you must...More

No words can express the awesomeness of the Library of Congress. As a student, I was able to use the Jefferson reading room to research my thesis. It still continues to awe me. There are guided tours and yes you will go through security. It's...More

Visited this as an add-on to the Capitol. It's part of the ticket but somehow not promoted that well. You are just told that after the Capitol tour if you want to see it the go through the tunnel. Believe me it is the best bit!

After going on our Capitol tour, our guide recommended we hop on over and so glad we did. It was gorgeous! The mosaics, the painting, the ceiling, lovely. Totally worth a stop.

I would plan 2-3 hours so as not to rush. The tour guides seem very good. My cousin works there so she took us around herself. Much more than a library!!
