There is a tunnel from the Capitol Visitor Centre to the Library of Congress. We were too late to go inside but the building itself is absolutely beautiful and worth the walk!! Great photo ops all around but the fountain was empty when we were there.

I am an avid book reader. As a child, I remember reading about the Library of Congress and the concept of a child can be so different from that of a retired adult. I am in Washington DC for a month and have now visited the Library of Congress twice. Twice will not do it Justice. Saying that it is... More

Wow! The Library of Congress' Thomas Jefferson Building has to be one of the most beautiful buildings in Washington, DC and yet, for some reason, isn't widely visited. The Library, which was perhaps the only building to have been built on-budget and the first to be built with electricity, is amazing. When you first enter (free), you are able to... More

Don't take the tour!!!! If you could hear, it would be great, but they don't have the head sets that the Capitol does. You could still watch the video and then just wander off on your own

This really is an amazing place. Its beautiful. The best tip here is to visit the website 2 weeks before your visit and fill out the online Reader Card Application. This will give you an early jump on your library card so when you arrive you just show your ID, they take your picture and they hand it to you.... More

If you are a book lover, this one is a can't miss. The architecture is incredible. You can't go into the reading room unless you are actually researching something, but you can view it from the gallery. Don't miss the exhibits--including Thomas Jeffereson's original library. He was so amazingly intelligent and well read.

I loved this building - it is not hard to imagine that you are in Europe - with all the Corinthian columns and the intricate detail in the carvings on the pedestals. Absolutely gorgeous!

First time visit after dozens of DC trips. Beautiful architecture and great exhibits. Connected to Capitol Building via interior walkway.

If you are visiting DC, you probably have your mile long list of attractions and museums already typed up and ready to go. The city is filled with amazing, completely free attractions to take up your day, week, etc. Just do me a favor, and visit the Library of Congress. Easily the best thing I did in DC. Worth the...
