Very nice state park with sandy beach and picnic area. Easy put in for boats on trailers and a special put in for roof top boats. Campground nice with trees and shrubs between each site giving privacy.

The first thing I learned while researching and planning our trip to Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster County, Virginia, that more than a few travelers have confused the 892-acre park with seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck's Rappahannock River with the island...More

Thank you for your very thorough review of Belle Isle State Park and for the warning about not getting it confused with the city park in Richmond. We not only have that issue with Belle Isle but we also have James River State Park not...More

We really like Belle Isle, especially the hiking trails along the river. Our visit in December was cool, but surprisingly saw some Monarch butterflies around the fields. They have kayaks , canoes, paddle boards and small boats that you can rent to enjoy the creeks...More

BEAUTIFUL views of the James River and the downtown skyline. My 10, 9 and 5-year olds loved climbing on the boulders with the perfectly natural variety of skill levels. The touches of history throughout this park were fascinating to me and great pit stops for...More

Sorry you have Belle Isle State Park in Lancaster, VA mixed up with Belle Isle Park in Richmond. You might want to delete this review and submit it on their site. It is confusing I know.

I absolutely loved this park. It was my first time kayaking and it was a great location, still water, not crowded and super affordable to rent a kayak. It is a good idea to reserve kayak rentals ahead as they do get booked. The staff...More
