A friend of ours recommended that we take the Highway 12 Scenic Byway while heading to Zion National Park. What an excellent suggestion. Every turn was breathtaking with several pull outs and parking areas for photos. We were lucky enough to enjoy some snow as a bonus! (Yes, Floridians)

We traveled hwy 12 from Bryce all the way until it ended and then took Hwy 24 to I-70. It took us hours because we kept having to stop to take in the scenery. The section from Escalante to Boulder was mind blowing with slick rock and canyons but when we pulled up into Dixie National Forest, the forests of... More

Went the whole distance of highway 12. Great ride if the weather is good and in daylight. The Hogback will get your blood moving. Was doing OK until the wife said it was like being on top of a roller coaster, then my knees buckled a little. Take the Hogback slow, you won't have any problems. Best scenery you will... More

Do not take this highway if your afraid of heights!! I got bad advice and took it and my girlfriend ended up driving because I was shaking. If your not afraid of heights go for it.

This has got to be the most amazing drive ever. When combined with I70 it becomes simply stunning. Words just fail to express the continual beauty of this drive.

So I love beauty, I saw beauty v on hwy 12, but I love life and was afraid i would lose mine on this road. It was too much. No gourd rails, tight twists and turns, no police, it was a never ending roller coaster. I was mentally exhausted by reaching Torrey. Stay away if you dint love roller coasters,... More

This is a great drive between Bryce NP and Capitol Reef NP. The road is in good condition. However I must advise that after Henrieville the two lane highway becomes very curvy as it climbs the mountain passes and at one point along the road you will find yourself driving on the rim of a long mountain. on this portion... This is the most scenic highway in America in my opinion. The highway doesn't offer the best of any one kind of scenery. It offers nearly the best of many different kinds of scenery. We started in Torrey Utah. The road climbs up and up and up. You make your way onto boulder mountain. We were there during fall colors.... More

Drove byway 12 from end to end, Red Canyon to Torrey, on our way back from Bryce to Salt Lake City. Beautiful fall day, not a cloud, not a lot of traffic either, so we could really enjoy it. There are no trucks, and most people are in no hurry. It's not a short drive, so if you need to... More

I read about this but was unsure of the road conditions. We got great information from the ranger at Zion and decided to go for it. It was an amazing drive with gorgeous views and it took us to our next destination which was Page. Don't miss out on this one! It is also a great way to go North... More
