Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you can manage to get away from the crowds that congregate near the camp sites, you will have found a little slice of paradise insanely close to the metro area. Despite only being a short drive away from Portland - the river is pristine. Very, very cold though BUT it seems that locals don't really mind it much. I saw plenty of people tubing even though it was a bit rocky and I myself let myself be swept away by the current. The river is considerably shallow and rocky in most parts. A great place to bring the dogs too!

And long all the while carving out it's path along the way. In some areas it is very wooded and snakes back and forth . In other areas it has wide open banks where pioneers of the past coming out west on wagon trains, attempted to ford the river crossings to settlements that looked like back home. When the Pacific NW has it's rainy season, the river and it's many trjbutaries fill up quickly to help it become a raging torrent which can take d OK wn 200 ft+ giant old growth fir and redwood trees in the forest surrounding. At other times of no rainfall, the river shrinks back to a large flat trickle if itself only to rage again in rainy season. Some of the largest and most delicious salmon reach it's banks after travelling many waterways to finally reach and join the mighty destination. Yes, I would have to say that the residents of Sandy Oregon, and it's many worldwide visitors love their river and the many adventures it provides such as FISHING, HIKING, BOATING, RAFTING, GEOCACHING, PHOTOGRAPHY, AND APPRECIATING THE WILDLIFE, BIRDS AND PICTURESQUE SCENERY, AS WE ELL AS CONTRIBUTION AS A HISTORICAL LANDMARK DE SD TI B ATI ON ALONG THE GREAT OREGON TRAIL WITHE THE PIONEERS WHO SETTLED HERE AND ELSEWHERE OUT WEST.

The Sandy river is very pretty but has had a good deal of flooding in the past two years. Take Lolo pass road off highway 26 (near Welches) and you just have to go a little way to see what damage the floods have achieved.

We just visited the Sandy River at Dodge Park. Lovely little beach, and the Bull Run River converges with the Sandy at the park. Lovely camping spots for tents, and a few for RV's. Wonderful, friendly camp hosts. Clean (and I mean clean) flush toilets, and showers you can pay for with quarters ($1.25 each) if you want to wash off the river water. Can't wait to go back.

From Mt Hood to the Columbia River this awesome river delivers! Fishing, rafting, boating, swimming, camping, photography, or just looking and listening. This beautiful and powerful river has it all. Take some time and grab the family and go see the Sandy River as it courses through the Forests and crashes against the rocks and rushes across the rapids. It's a wonderful place to get back to nature. Water as pure as the mountain snow, running fast and clean through 'God's Country'. There are a lot of parks along the way. A lot of places to pull off and take pictures and see what power the river has.
