Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visiting New York you are literally spoilt for choice for things to see and do. I would not necessarily have put this district on my to do list before visiting New York. However, I am glad we popped to this area to have a nice walk around and grab some drinks.

If you visit this area and leave hungry, it’s your own fault! There are dozens of restaurants featuring just about any cuisine, and decor ranging from very casual to white linen tablecloths. In addition, there are taverns, ice cream shops, pizzerias, coffee bars, seafood restaurants, etc. History nearly oozes from the cobblestone pedestrian walkway. Don’t miss this experience!

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern day New York and get a sense of the old New York. The historic South Street Seaport area, while a bit commercial, does give you the opportunity to get a sense of NYC in the late 1800s and early 1900s and especially the impact of ships and shipping. It is worth the time.

This area has all you want, some great restaurants, shopping, an outdoor bar. Views of the Brooklyn Bridge. An area that you don’t want to miss, also close to Pier 17.

The south street seaport is so different since the devastation of hurricane Sandy. It’s still a beautiful place with gorgeous views. A lot of restaurants, entertainment and concerts. The place is great for photos, several shops and other places to eat. I still miss the old seaport but eventually once they finish building I will get use to the new area. It’s a wonderful place to visit since they have a huge terrace on top but it was closed to the public this time I visit.

Came across this area by accident! On a weekend night, multiple food vendors set up, plenty of picnic tables & seating, all local shops open, open air bar & a great historic feel.

There is a buzz about he seaport now. Thanks to the Howard Hughes Corp morning he investment into Piet 17 is attracting more attention and people aswell. We went up to eh pop up bar restaurant on the rooftop and watched the river traffic and the ice rink. What a place to do that. It is still only part open but well worth a visit.

We wouldn't have gone if we had realised how little there is to see. Mostly the place is boarded up with barriers everywhere. We did have a nice snack at the end of a pier and as the sun was shining we sat outside and watched the helicopters and boats in the harbour. Otherwise better avoided and spend your time elsewhere.

A great spot that takes you back into the bustling maritime era of New York City - you can explore the restored ships, check out restaurants, and shops, and stop by the seaport museum.
