We visited pyramid lake on a weekday in late August. It is in the Paiute tribe reservation. We found it extra beautiful because there were very few people and no water crafts in the lake that day. We stopped at the museum visitor center which...More

Not very long drive from Reno. The water is very clear and only a little bit salty. There are plenty of place to park near the water and it is very nice to swim in the lake. No wave, crystal clear water.

Visiting Pyramid Lake is not just Pyramid Lake. The whole area is interesting and beautiful. Before visiting, I recommend you research the geology. The tufa towers are interesting, but the geology of the whole region is even more interesting. Google pluvial Lake Lahontan. I am...More

Interesting area with many pelicans. Quiet and beautiful views. Stop by visitors center on the way. There is also a store/bar/restaurant on the west side directly across from the "pyramid" in Sutcliffe

Yes! You need to go directly to Crosby’s or the Marina to get a permit. Or stop at the chevron gas station that you pass on Pyramid Highway/Los Posada. You’ll get fined if they catch you. Even if it’s just a quick viewing.
