Didn't know that Monterey was the capital of California back in the days when the region was part of the Mexican Republic. The Park staff at this historic building were very friendly and informative.

It's small but has lots of early California history, artifacts, and examples of food. They even have displayed how they transported dishes. This won't take you long but you should stop in this free exhibit.
