If beauty and adventure is what you seek this is your place indeed! I came here only to visit Fern Canyon and was totally unprepared for what this place really was. Bring water shoes and roll up pants or shorts cause you have to walk up a creek. Be prepared for wash outs on road and huge potholes as well... More

Don't even try to stay dry. We started out trying to find the best ways to keep our feet dry. It didn't take very long for us to realize it wasn't going to happen. We ended up hiking through the stream for the most part of this hike into the woods. We were up to our knees in spots. Totally... More

This hike is totally worth the long, bumpy drive to get there. We went a few days after a week's worth of rain, and some cars weren't able to make it through the streams across the road, having to park up the road and walk in. We made it fine in a small SUV. **Bring cash for parking. There was... More

Well lets put it this way winter time yes summer time oh no! 1st the negatives- cash only and the sign that states that is at the top of the hill (2miles of muddy gravel road up hill all the way) and its a very reasonable $8 bucks. 2nd is I drove a 92 accord wagon and had no idea... More

I went there with a friend of mine who had been there before. The access drive is a little far and rough but I was still able to slowly manage it in my Park Ave. It was well worth it. I didn't take the entire hike only because I was not prepared and it was later in the day (side... More

The road closure to the parking lot made this a 8 mile hike for us! There was a rock slide and the signs directed us to the beach on the way there. Normally there's a parking lot right by the hike, but the road closure had our hike just to get there about 3.5 miles. The actual hike in Fern... More

We visited Fern Canyon in October. There are no boardwalks and the water in the creek was ankle deep. We hadn't prepared so we ended up sloshing along in our hiking shoes. The canyon is gorgeous and worth the drive (and $6 day fee) to get to. A higher clearance vehicle is helpful (we had to ford a stream) and... More

It’s a little out of the way to get to but it is worth the drive. Be prepared to be amazed as you walk through this gully that is covered with lush ferns of various types and colors. Also just be prepared! The hike requires some scrabbling over and under logs/fallen trees. Additionally, you will be walking in the water... More

Our family of five with three kiddos under 10 loved the hike through the canyon. The cool water stream and the sheer cliff walls covered with ferns made for a great adventure for our kids. Lots of trees and rocks to boulder over and plenty of places to wade through the creek if you like a little adventure. We would... More
