It is a nice old church... something that you probably wouldn't expect in a communist country. On the other hand Cuba is a catholic country, so visit at the San Jose Church is highly recommended to experience the local spirit.

In a Catholic nation, one of many churches in the city. The interior is classic, austere, but a nice spot to stop and reflect during a hot day or following a long hike.

This Church is full of history and is worthwhile to visit. There is a real sense of calmness. I paid 15 pesos on a tour bus, so the visit was quite short as I rushed around to have a glimpse of some of the attractions. It is best to book a hotel in easy access to these attractions.

We visited this church as part of a trip to Holguin, the architecture from the outside id stunning, as you can see from the various pictures, but I my opinion the inside is nothing to write home about.

We saw this church as part of a brief tour of Holguin city, on our way to play cards in a nearby square before dinner. If you love old buildings and architecture, this is definitely worth a visit. The information available in English for tourists was a nice touch, as there's very little English signage around Cuba.

Every place you go has a rich church and a poor church. This is definitely the poor cousin to the church to the church a few blocks to the south. We look at churches as art galleries that specialize in religious art and architecture. It is under renovation and slowly coming back to life. There are bats in the belfry... More

Most Cuban cities have a Spanish style, safe, central area with shopping, old narrow streets, hustlers, local shops, churches and a museum. Insist on eating at a local home restaurant for about one convertible CUC! Make sure you take your own bottled water along.
