The vineyard is accessed by a very enjoyable scenic drive along a dirt road away from the weekend crowds and double-decker buses of Waiheke. It has a huge outdoor area with lots of different seating options alongside a nice little beach. It was very busy but the staff were efficient and accommodating. We did the wine tasting and then had... More

Very pleasant and scenic setting (beach 5 m over the road). More a winery shop that serves cold platters than a restaurant. Not the place to go if you want this as your main meal or if you are hungry. Options for kids. Would have been better if they had cleared table during the visit rather than allowing platters, plates... More

You will need a 4x4 to get here but it's a magical winery on the beach in a remote bay. Wines were good and different, service lovely and the spot incredible. A jaunt but very cool and worth the trip.

This is a fantastic place to visit for several reasons. The tasting room sits on lovely grounds with comfy bean bags, picnic tables and a great view of the sea. So close you could have a wine and go for a swim. They serve tasting platters to go wit some very good wines. The emphasis on good reds

When we arrived, we were greeted by an extremely rude staff member who used profanity to make a point about parking. It was so unnecessary and a simple 'excuse me, you can't park here' for whatever reason would have sufficed. When we mentioned this to the owner, she didn't appear to be interested and laughed it off as if it... More

We made the trip to Waiheke because our friends who are Auckland natives went on and on about the wine, the landscape, and the laid back good nature folks at Man O' War. What we encountered was a disaster and I would seriously 0 star the place were it not for Sarah on the staff in the wine tasting area/food... More

I scored a 4 but probably more a 3.5. I can understand the attraction but it is a simple garden with benches, expensive wine and a only two or three food items to choose from. It is a long way out of town on gravel roads so unless you are in a taxi or have a sober driver its a... More

My wife and I drove the winding road to this superb spot after spending a couple of days on Waiheke wining and dining with friends at various establishments. Sitting outside at Man o' war on a sunny Sat arvo overlooking the bay, drinking their excellent wine and enjoying one of their platters would be hard to beat! Friendly service too.

Very good place to stop and enjoy a glass of wine. Not more if you are driving. The wine is really excellent. We really liked the location and the view to Pakatoa and Rotoroa Island. It's not really a beach place for swimming but a very good place to stop on a day tour over the island.

Take a seat, with wine in hand and a cheese board in front of you, while gazing at the open ocean... sounds dreamy right? That's Man O' War for you!
