A unique journey from the charming shoreline village of Akaroa, up over the rim of an extinct volcano, past spectacular farmland and ocean views, and down eastern slopes to the Pacific Ocean. There, at the foot of one-hundred-metre cliffs, we will encounter an adorable colony of New Zealand Fur Seals, swimming and sun bathing amongst 8-million-year-old volcanic deposits.

What a great day out with Paul to show us the beautiful countryside. Entertaining information about the history of his farm and the area dating way back. We loved it was a small group (just the two of us!!) and the highlight was getting up close and personal with the beautiful seals and their babies. The setting was so natural,... More

As many others have reviewed, this tour was certainly a highlight of our day in Akaroa as a family of 5 adults. The tour does not have more than 8 people which is just perfect. On our particular tour it was just us and another couple. Paul was knowledgeable and dedicated to ensure a good experience is had by all.... More

Booked this tour for my cousin and myself on our last day in Akaroa. We were absolutely blown away by the tour. Paul is a great guide and full of information. The tour was intimate and we got really close to wild seals. We learnt so much about seals and Akaroa and had an amazing experience. I can't recommend this... More

This was a great trip. Great scenic drive through Paul's farm down to the beach where the seals were. Paul was full of information about the colony and the mating habits. Really great to see the males, and the mother's taking care of their pups. Enjoyed the education about sheep farming and the area as well.

Take one of the boats from Akaroa wharf and just go out into the harbour, you will not only see seals, but dolphins ,little penguin and sea birds. You can swim with the dolphins and experience close up.

The Seal Safari was a terrific day to spend the day in Akaroa. Not only did we see seals and more seals, but we also saw the landscape as I am sure that few on the larger commercial tours do. The tour only accommodates 6 due to the vehicle limit over the off-road area traveled. Best of all was our host... More

Found this gem thanks to TripAdvisor! Our host Paul was fantastically knowledgeable and just a great guy too. The scenery on the way to the colony is just gorgeous with Paul giving us a lot of insight into the area and it's history. Once at the seal colony, we headed down and got unbelievably close to the fur seals getting... More

Small, well-run tour that takes you to a part of the Peninsula you would never get to experience otherwise. Paul knows everything about his family land and is happy to tell you all about it. Loved the wee hike out to see the seals. Morning tea is a plus!
