We took an afternoon sail during our one day stop in Akoroa. We opted not to spend the time and money to travel to Christchurch and were glad we stayed in the port town. We bought the sailing trip on a whim but were with some folks who had booked on line months ahead. Captain Ray is hands on -... More

Made to feel very welcome even though I tried to short pay Ray! Ray and Lyn worked hard to make everyone feel included and we all got a turn at the helm. Just the sound of the sails in the wind would have been enough, but we had the real honour of being joined by the Hector dolphins. Can recommend... More

We wanted a peaceful, relaxing and fun way to enjoy Akaroa Harbour and its wildlife and so sailing was the ideal choice. From the moment we stepped on board our skipper was friendly, clearly an expert sailor , and warmly shared his wealth of knowledge about the local area, it's history, wildlife and people. This was the best value for... More

This was a wonderful sailing cruise in a beautiful old wooden boat on Akaroa harbour. Skipper Ray is so knowledgeable about the area, local culture and wildlife. Ray took us around the harbour for 2.5 hours and gave us a go at taking the helm. Unfortunately Hectors Dolphins were in hiding and we didn't see any but we did see... More

Went sailing with Ray today and five others - how cool it was!! The boat is a classic sailing craft that is credit to the people who crafted it over 50 years ago. Dolphin and penguin were sited and we all had a go at the helm/ wheel. What a great way to spend an afternoon on the waters of... More

A delightful autumn day, few crowds and glorious sunshine made this a great day for a sail in Akaroa Bay. Ray (skipper) makes you feel as if you're a special guest. With a wealth of local knowledge, Ray seems to have built a rapport the local Hector dolphins, who dash up to his boat and pop up their beaks to... More

Two and a half hours of pure fun, relaxation and excitement all in one. From the unique opportunity to sail "Manutara" and the soothing effect of nature's sounds to the thrill of a close-up encounter with wildlife. Whether it's the water or wind, the landscape or the dolphins, blue penguins or birds that attract you, you will not be disappointed.... More
