We had an amazing morning sail with the team at Fox II - the crew were very professional and made us feel safe and comfortable with our two young children. Despite the glorious sunshine, it was much colder than expected but we were provided with toasty warm jackets and hot drinks. As well as all the spectacular sights and wildlife... More

My wife and I booked this fantastic trip on our honeymoon - it was a perfect trip! Roy was an incredible host with the perfect mix of information about the harbour and history of Akaroa. We would recommend this to anyone!

I booked the Fox II Akaroa Harbour sail as a surprise for my husband's birthday, January 28th. The weather was perfect for sailing with a good breeze and clear sky. Every aspect of the trip was brilliantly handled - a really informative commentary, wonderful contrasting music to attract the dozens of Hector's dolphins accompanying us, amazing scenery, some penguins and... We did this cruise with a group from a cruise ship on February 23 afternoon. The weather was cold but the crew provided jackets (if needed; free of charge). In the sun, the weather was warm. In the shadow of the mountains, it was cool. The crew consisted of the captain and two 20's man & woman. All were wonderful.... More

Jackets were provided on this chilly, windy day out in the harbor area. We were able to see a lot of wildlife (shags, seals, hector dolphins, blue penguins) and breathtaking scenery. It was fun to watch the crew man the sails throughout the cruise and hear about the local history. I was also impressed that Captain Roy uses this vessel... More

The weather didn't help the overall experience, but there were one or two features that were lacking. There was no mention of safety procedures, and the commentary at times indicated lack of local knowledge. However, the staff was friendly, and supplied us with jackets for the cold, and coffee and shortbread.

This is a fantastic way to see the harbour here and makes you understand better the beauty and history of this stunning area Fox 2 has a most interesting history and is an ideal way of viewing the wildlife and geology of the harbour. Because she cruises quite slowly, you get to see more of what is around you. When... More

Come rain or shine Roy always manages to make this trip unique and wonderful. My kids are now 6 & 8, but we started when they were 4 & 6. They've always been welcomed aboard, given buoyancy aids and warm jackets (when required - April!) then hot chocolate and a cookie on the route back. You will no doubt see... More

Absolutely brilliant trip yesterday. The skipper Roy was great. He gave a good commentary on the history of the area and the wildlife. We saw the Hectors dolphins playing in the bow wave of the boat - just magical. Roy played music as we sailed along and we actually went out on to the Pacific Ocean. Without doubt this was... More
