What a special treat it was to be on a photographic tour lead by Adam Monk. Adam put together the best “no rush” take in all the special sights, locations and festivals Bhutan had to offer in a march tour his year. He organized the most delightful and knowledgeable Bhutan guides and drivers to take care of us. Adam made himself available anytime to help with camera settings and composition. I had little idea about post photo processing before the trip but now I’m excited about the possibilities and have developed new skills. When Adam puts on a tour to another location I going.

Adam Monk is not just a gifted photographer of our magnificent wilderness and nature. He also actively promotes its conservation through his unwavering support for our work. During the Kimberley campaign – through which we successfully stopped the imminent destruction of James Price Point by a large gas company, Adam ensured that the beauty of the place is captured and communicated to a larger audience who could appreciate this faraway place through his work. Year in and year out, he continues to donate stunning photographs for our fundraising campaigns. If you are yet to see his work first hand, a visit to the gallery is surely a must on your plan. - Michael Bartura; The Wilderness Society

Thanks Komai, I'm always happy to help you guys and the other environmental groups working on the front lines to save our precious rapidly vanishing environment. Anything else I can do in future please just ask.

If you would like to have some images of Western Australia, you could not go past the photographic images available at Monk photography in central Fremantle. Adam is a wonderful artist who has reproduced images of the beauty of Western Australia from the South West to the Kimberley. Worth the time to drop in.

Thank you to Adam and the people of Monk Art Photography for their amazing donation to this years' Starlight Five Chefs Dinner. We're sure his stunning artwork entitled “Impermanence 2” will be a great success in the silent auction. A big thankyou from the team at the Starlight Children's foundation.

I am one of the photographers who went to Bhutan with Adam in October 2013. It was a fabulous trip to a fabulous place. I enjoyed it immensely and I hope to go there again within a year or two. I will have no hesitation in going again with Adam.
Everyone in our group captured fine photographs. Adam was very helpful in answering questions and educating the group on photography and post-processing. I think everyone learned something on our trip, and improved as photographers.
Our Bhutanese guide and driver were excellent. They looked after us, kept us safe and were always available to tell us about their customs and their country.
This was one of the very best photo trips I have done. Bhutan is a truly rich environment for photographers. The countryside, scenery, people and culture were amazing. Our group was a nice mix, not too large and they are all new friends now.
Adam showed us the best of the festivals, monasteries and landscapes and everything that goes with being in this remarkable country. He was good company and looked after us very well indeed. Recommended.

I joined Adam on a photography tour of Bhutan in October 2013. What a stunning country and the people are an absolute delight. It is a portrait photographers paradise. And what was really nice is that Adam returned to some of the same locations in 2014 so I gave him a selection of prints to hand out to some of the many willing "subjects".
It was a full on program with many wonderful photo opportunities. Stunning landscapes, friendly people, old monasteries, animals galore and so much more. We were very fortunate (though of course it was well planned by Adam) to coincide our trip during two festivals. One was a really big festival but my favourite was a smaller one with more locals and less tourists. We were also very lucky to discover two very small local celebrations and the trip had the flexibility to join in.
After enjoying a substantial buffet evening meal the group often got together to review images and Adam demonstrated many great Lightroom techniques. I consider myself pretty conversant with Lightroom but still gained some great tips that have really helped speed up my selection and editing process.
My other half isn't into photography based tours so being able to join a fabulous group of like minded people to enjoy my passion is great. It is a perfect way to travel solo with the security of numbers. Though not too many as Adam wisely keeps the group numbers small.

Hi carol, it was great having a fellow professional like yourself along on tho journey. Your ability to talk to anybody, old or young, and have them smiling and laughing along with you was astounding, and the resulting portraits were stunning.

September 2013 I went with Adam on his two week trip to Bhutan.
To review it in one sentence: I returned from Bhutan with great memories, great photos but mainly I am a better photographer than I was before the trip. =)
With a good mix of photo sessions, technical sessions and tourism the tour really fits the bill. Adam is a great coach and likes to teach and share his skills and knowledge.
Our group had mixed technical skills and Adam was able to balance it up between the really keen photographes and the more tourism minded guys.com
I won't even try to review Bhutan, there are considerably better writers than me out there doing it. I'll just say, you should go now! It's a magical place!
Overall I loved every moment of the trip. Highly recommended!

Luiz, having you along on that photo tour to Bhutan was a real pleasure. Watching your natural abilities with a camera blossom in that environment was astounding to watch. I don't think I can take the credit for your progress, you are really a natural, but I found your view of the world always inspiring and I found myself viewing things in a different way. Thankyou, Adam

The 15 day photography excursion in March to Bhutan with Adam Monk was a great trip in many ways. With such physical and cultural variety, we all clicked away like there was no tomorrow. It was Spring, so the landscape was dry in the valleys with brilliant yellow sunlit terraced landscapes, an abundance of prayer flags, small compact villages, unique in style and colour, blending so wonderfully with the terrain. The hills and fore-alps were deep green and just beginning to burst into red and white flowers everywhere. Culturally, the country is so unique - language, dress and easy outward communication of the Bhutanese, so pleasant and different from its neighbours of India and China. We photographed landscapes, so many monasteries, fortresses, monks, sporting events (especially archery, the national sport and darts where they throw a good 50m tot he target), markets, and the 3-day Punakha festival that was a stunning array of colour and great humour. We had pre-dawn shots from the high passes to post-sunset shots of the Fortresses and Monasteries as they turned their lights on. We walked up to the Tigers Nest (3200m altitude), a daunting challenge for some; everyone made the 'pilgrimage'. Adam reviewed photos in the evening, espoused the importance of RAW and demonstrated the transformation of photos in Lightroom; During the day he was always catching up with everyone giving 'tips' on getting different shots and angles on things. We all became our own critics and everyone left better photographers.
The trip was more than just photography. It was also a great appreciation of Bhutan itself, a difficult landscape, a deeply Buddhist, gentle society, a belief in itself in maintaining an equilibrium and well being of its people. A super trip.

We have bought 3 brilliant images of Western Australia by Adam Monk and are in the process of purchasing another one. His photographs are like we are revisiting many of our favourite places. When you walk into the shop you are immediately made to feel welcome and offered assistance. Whether you are a Western Australian or visitor The Fremantle Gallery is well worth visiting.
