About
Fremantle is the most eclectic and spirited seaside destination in the world. Right where the Swan River meets the Indian Ocean, Fremantle or Freo, as the locals call it, is a 30 minute train ride from Perth, WA’s capital city and the main departure point to Rottnest Island, home of the famous Quokka. Fremantle is Perth’s Old town. It’s a maritime city with spirit and soul, full of vibrancy, colour and culture. Chart a course through a coalescence of festivals, museums, UNESCO World Heritage, hundred year old markets and a soundtrack of sails and rigging in the sea breeze. Experience an otherworldly collision of musical and creative culture, and world class food and wine. Meet local characters who will lead you on adventures through historic streets, hidden laneways, and salty ports on your way to Rottnest Island. Our team of staff & volunteers are local experts & can provide free advice on things to do in Fremantle. Come and visit us in our new centre in Walyalup Koort, Fremantle

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited the Fremantle information centre to try and work out what we could do each day. We met Rob who I have to say was an amazing source of information. Not only did he know so much of the history which he was able to impart easily but he was funny. We left with a wealth of information that we also imported to friends living there, they had no idea of some of the history. Hes a gem for Fremantle and if you are looking to find out what to do and some of the history then go and find Rob.

I will be sure to pass your comments onto Rob tomorrow.
Thanks again for your review & we hope to see you again.

I visited here four times over 14 days and got a ton of friendly help. Best of all, FREE bicycle hire for an entire day. It really expanded my opportunities in Fremantle. Thanks especially to Annika and Dee!

Fremantle has always been independent and proud of its maritime origins, This port city is the gateway to Western Australia, Australia's western third. There are many points of interest in Fremantle, from Bon Scott's statue to the Maritime Museum. The helpful staff can point you in the right direction.

unlike other WA based centres this predominately focuses on Perth and Fremantle attractions. There are guides to assist you if you wish and plenty of brochures and good seating out front to read the brochures you collect

Is there parking for cars and caravans in Fremantle?
Fremantle Visit... C
Fremantle, Australia5 contributions
Hello Lisa
There aren't designated caravan car parks in Fremantle. However, you can park in any City of Fremantle off-the-street car park, but you will have to pay for the bays that you use. There are also private car parks which will have their own rules. Check their information boards for more.

we are in Freemantle for one day on a cruise ship - am interested in a private tour around the area - or possibly a trip to Rottnest Island although the info I have found doesn't give us much time as the ship leaves early evening

Thank you.

Hello, the best way to get from Perth to Fremantle is the Perth Underground train station (roughly 10 minute walk from your hotel). Fremantle city is an awesome place to discover on foot so no car necessary to delight in the town - make sure to pop in to the visitor centre so we can highlight the towns' features.
