About
Visit the gallery to view Glen Cowans' photography of marine images inspired by the waters of Western Australia and oceans around the world. His subjects are the seascapes within and the breathlessly beautiful life forms that live there. Cowans' images allow us to contemplate the wondrous life of the oceans. His lens is our microscope, exposing colour and species with a complexity and sculptural form not normally visible to the naked eye.

I was lucky enough to stumble across Glen's studio whilst visiting Fremantle last week, and I am so pleased I did! His work is breathtaking and inspiring, magical and awesome, I've never seen anything like it. Fortunately for me Glen was actually manning the front desk that day and it was so lovely to meet him and have the opportunity to ask questions about his work, as he has clearly travelled all over the world to get these shots. Each piece comes with a brief explanation of the how and where, so it really helps bring each shot to life. Would highly recommend a visit, and thanks Glen for taking the time out to chat with me!

While visiting historic Fremantle, WA, I greatly encourage you to visit Glen Cowans' Gallery. Located immediately adjacent the iconic Roundhouse, the Gallery offers a haven of beauty and quiet. Glen's underwater photography is lyrical, technically superb, and deeply engrossing. His vision opens up the undersea realm in ways that most of us would not otherwise be able to experience. Even seasoned divers will forever after see the ocean in a new way after contemplating Glen's images. A wonderful addition to the Gallery is the underwater video work of Louise Stazzonelli, Glen's wife, whose own artistic vision is growing broader and ever more proficient technically. I know Glen and Louise but would highly recommend spending time in the Gallery even if I didn't. Their work is THAT good and time in the Gallery will be time well-spent.

Randy, thank you so much for your wonderful comments. It was incredible that you and Marcia, two of our best private clients (and now friends) came all the way from your little island in the Pacific Ocean, just to surprise us and attend the opening of our new gallery.
Regards
Glen

I recently passed by the studio whilst roaming around Fremantle. An art buff i am not but i do love my underwater photography and the marine environment and was really inspired to see a truly exceptional number of images of the highest quality. Not only are there exceptional underwater images but there is a true sense of originality to a lot of Glenn's work when he highlights elements of the marine world as art by simplifying the subject you are looking at by not focusing on the big picture but rather the small things. My personal favourites are the macro works that highlight the colours and patterns of nature...and that's coming from someone that wants to swim with anything and everything that is big in the ocean!
The location is great and very easy to find. I personally combined my visit with a trip to the WA Maritime museum and a cool drink whilst overlooking the water.
A refreshing new art gallery and look into the underwater world and a great way to spend an afternoon in Fremantle.

Thank you Mr & Mrs Glen Cowans for your love of underwater nature and your gift of photography. As I browse your exhibits in your gallery, I give thanks to God for His marvellous creations. Your gift to capture the most spectacular marine images from waters of Australia to oceans around the world gives me the inspiration to want to take up scuba diving and explore the world in the ocean.
I will be bringing lots of visitors including visitors from overseas as I am going to show off your beautiful canvas prints and fine art. Your gallery add excitement to Fremantle.

We just wandered in while we were having a walk along the waterfront, and we were so pleased we did. The photography is stunning. Glen was there and was happy to take the time to talk to us about his work. We bought one of the photographs and as we were taking it overses as a gift he went to great lengths to have it careful wrapped. Even though we have seen the photographs, they are so lovely that we would happily take another stroll through.

We came across Glen Cowans' studio by chance. What a fabulous place. His photographs are certainly very special and wonderful pieces of art. I particularly loved how he managed to make beautiful abstract art from amazing views of sea creatures and fish.
What a great view from his studio all the way up the High Street.

Amazing and breathtaking. Saw Glen's underwater photographic images at his studio via the Fremantle Festival last Sunday. His photos made me feel like I was swimming with the dolphins or the stingray, etc.and also that I was a part of the beautiful creatures of the sea.
One of the image I liked in display, was just a light streaming through the water and changing the color of the sand, creating shadows and light bouncing off the background. Simple and profound at the same time.
Glen sure has an eye for for it. Thank you Glen for sharing the underwater beauty with us, and may we appreciate and conserve what is very precious.

For fans of sea life this gallery is a must. Located in what has to be one of Fremantle/Perth's best positions the exhibits here are incredible. Not just another of the myriad underwater and landscape photographers around , Glen's attention to detail and patience in getting the right shot must be appreciated and commended. From various locations around the globe, the variety and intensity of the pieces is wonderful. Of course we are biased, having fallen victim and purchased a number of pieces now we are always on the lookout for something new. Glen's artwork has replaced pieces from more "famous" names at our place. Louise's underwater video is also stunning and worth taking home to provide some great atmosphere. They are also really nice people happy to chat and share their experiences whilst you look around. As a skipper and underwater enthusiast I was lucky enough to meet Glen "on the job" and saw first hand his passion for the aquatic world. We have taken a number of friends from around the world to see his works and most have left with a great impression and at least a small momento! Hard to give a better reference that that. Make sure you have a look here.
