Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

St. John the Evangelist Church is an Anglican church located in the center of Freemantle. Opened in 1843, it was replaced with a larger one in 1882. The original church was located on the site of the Town Hall. The exterior is made of limestone from a local quarry and the roof timbers came from the southern Australian forests. Among the stained-glass windows is the Rose Window depicting the four evangelists. In front of the altar is a wrought iron gate and to the side is a brass lectern. The organ is the first one built in Western Australia. Open to the public every day of the week.

The origins of the church date to 1843, built on the site where the Town Hall now stands. The present building dates to 1876 and was consecrated in 1882 with the bell-tower added in 1906. The church was open in preparation for service and I was welcomed as a visitor when I requested permission to photograph the stained glass windows. These are quite lovely with the rose window on the West Wall and underneath the seven lancet windows depicting the "works of mercy". Beautiful workmanship and the quality maintained in all windows. So impressive with the light streaming through. The organ was installed in 1884, the first organ built in WA.

St John's Anglican Church is near the centre of Fremantle. It is a stately building made of local limestone. The interior is attactive. St John's follows the Anglican High Church tradition..

A beautiful church, both inside and outside. The wooden ceiling and the stained glass are spectacular. In addition, the church is very welcoming - there is an inviting text right next to the entrance. Also, a very nice person (the priest?) welcomed me.

The original church was built in 1843 where the Town Hall now sits and a second larger church replaced it in 1882 which allowed the Town Hall to be built. Interesting but not spectacular and worth a look.

St John the Evangelist Church is built of limestone, with fine tuck pointing flexing with the stones. It is well worth a look at. St John's is a functioning member of the Anglican Communion in Australia. Visiting worshipers are welcome.

Being an Anglican worshipper on holiday from the UK, I was delighted to see that there is a regular weekday service of Holy Communion at 12.30pm. I went on Wednesday, 27 March, the only visitor there until a young man arrived who was obviously not a regular worshipper. He was made most welcome and opened up to say he was attending AA and he was on day 16 of being sober. Obviously in search of something and I hope he finds it.

Interesting to see as most Anglican churches are less decorated.
There is an ornate reredos behind the alter and a screen nearer the entrance which is painted in orthodox style.

Have to say a big thank you to the gentleman who was obviously there to welcome visitors and was happy to answer all our questions
