Walking through the valley from Lauterbrunnen is easy and enjoyable. There are myriad waterfalls of varying sizes and each is unique. We were there the day after heavy rain which enhanced the falls. Pack a little lunch and take an enjoyable walk.

We took the train to Lauterbrunnen from Bern - connecting through Interlaken - hoping that the time it took to get there was worth it. It was totally worth the trip. On a beautiful September afternoon the walk through the valley was magnificent. Gorgeous views,...More

This was a great thing to see when going up the mountain on a train but not sure if I would go out of my way to see it.

Even on the train ride to Lauterbrunnen, I do really enjoy the green view and river scene. It's not far from Interlaken Ost Station that takes about 20 minutes by train. There is a funicular takes you up to several destinations such as Grütschalp, Mürren...More

The best and easier transportation is by train. It takes about 20 min. Lauterbrunnen is more spectacular. If I had only one day it would be there. Interlaken has the lakes and greater view of the Alps.

Hi Kay! Your trip sounds fantastic! I was very fortunate when I visited to me on an organized tour so I didn't need to schedule passes, however Rick Steeves has a forum about the rail passes - as I cannot post the link here... More

I would say it would be a bit risky and slippery underfoot. There are times when as an adult it is slippery, trying to look after a little one at the same time could be tricky. There are plenty of paths and places to see... More
