Another great beach in the eastern Algarve. You can get a boat from the quayside in Tavira, or drive to Quatro Aguas, with plenty of parking, walk through the dunes, and the beach, bars, restaurants are all in front of you. Safe swimming, and pedalos...More
Tavira island is one of those places you seem initially sceptical to go and visit as your initial thoughts are why do I have to get a boat.
Well the boat ride is definitely worth it.
The island has lots of amenities bars restaurants etc...More
A beautiful wide sandy beach with 2 restaurants and water sports available.
The taxi boat leaves from town and takes 10 minutes and cost €3 - €4 return per person.
Shady areas with trees and a small children’s play park.
Just returned from 2 full weeks in Portugal. Travelled around by car and also visited Tavira, close to border of Spain.
Romanian bridge, great restaurants by the canall, life music everywhere. Totally suggest!

Hi, you catch the ferry from either Tavira or Quattro Aguas, which is a few KM south, 5 minutes by car. The ferrys aren't are about €1.80 return from Quattro. You may need help getting on and off depending how mobile you are. Once on the island there's a concrete footpath straight to the main cafes/restaurants area, with full facilities. Then it's another 100m (not great for wheelchairs as it's blocks, though they look like they have wooden walkways in summer) to the area with parasols and loungers, which are quite expensive I believe. Good luck and it's a lovely spot if it's not too busy.
