Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was very touchy to visit the church for us. If you are catholic or interested in St. John Paul II it is a must! We drove from Krakov and it took us 1 hour to get there

We were at the Minor Basilica on Good Friday, it was full of people for mass, the Bishop held the mass it was lovely, there is a large statue of St. John Paul II ( then still blessed ) I love the side alters, I went outside later to take a photo of the colourful fountain with the Basilica in the back ground

We made a quick stop (about 30 min.) in Wadowice, the birthplace of Pope John Paul II, where we visited the Minor Basilica of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary located in the Main Square. This nice little town was filled with statues and followers of the former Pope.

Many visitors clearly found their visit inspiring, some appeared to be overwhelmed and in ecstasy/trances. The basilica contains the chapel where the late Pope was baptised. An essential visit for active Catholics, no doubt.

The now Basilica is right beside the former home of St. John Paul Ii and where he was baptized. The church houses memorabilia of the pope. It is good to visit along with his home because he spent the early years of his life in Wadowice, place he calls “where it all began.”

The church is gorgeous. I am always amazed at the beauty of these older churches. The intricate architecture and the gorgeous statues are amazing. Worth a trip.

This Basilica is FANTASTIC! It is a good sized church, with areas in each of the 4 corners that have separate rooms for you to view. Lots of things to see inside.
Here's a Tip!! Be sure to go in and a life size marble "Pope" is inside that you can take photo's with!!
Please press "yes" if you found this helpful, as I wonder if anyone actually reads these...

It is interesting to visit this Polish town and especially this church if you are Catholic and especially if you loved Pope John Paul. I've seen many churches much more elaborate but this one was representative of the simple man who began his priesthood here.
