Despite what the internet says, the castle isnt open Mondays, which is more than a bit annoying when we paid a driver from Riga to see this! Not good enough!

You'll be given a lantern to guide you up winding stairs which would otherwise be unlit. Nice views. Cool breeze. Vaulted ceiling with remnants of a fresco. Safety wasn't considered on this adventure.

This is free of charge, if you have a car, just go and look around, simply to see how buildings and living looked before.

There is really nothing to see there, we went dor the hike. The hike itself is nice, with good viewpoints (and it was winter, it was snowing, so the atmosphere was very enjoyable).

Old ruins of once a great castle near river Gauja gorge. Worth of visiting. Not overcrowded by tourists there :)

It's a ruin. You'd not go there just for it but if you did you'd be a bit disappointed. Plenty other ruins in the area more worthy
