Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

From a distance, through the trees, it looked like a fairytale castle. Actually it turned out to be an old manor building whose better days are in the past. Kinda the same experience as looking for a partner in a night club...
However, the manor had retained its grandeur and pride, and the building is actually very lovely.
You cannot enter the manor because there is a rehabilitation center or other institution unknown to me. But it was nothing, because the garden of the manor was very beautiful and worth seeing. The buildings around the manor are also worth a closer look. Therefore, if you don't want to go back by cable car right away and don't feel like walking in the forest, then the manor is the right place to come.
Next to the manor there is also a canteen and a shop where you can buy beer. I bought two.

If you take the cable car from Sigulda then it is worth having a walk around Krimulda. Most of the buildings within the village are in need of repair and some TLC but it is not hard to imagine how good it must have been in it's day. It was still a photogenic setting, quite mysterous really and the buildings were still attractive if. run down. Worth a quick look.

We passed this on our hiking tour of Gauja park and it looked very scenic in the December snow with no one else around.
Not worth making a trip especially for but as part of the tour it was a nice photo opportunity.

We looked at it for a little bit as we hiked around the area and had a drinks stop next door. Super beautiful, Funny little sheds outside that made us wonder what they were. We preserved. Would be great to hear stories about it.

Just the view of old manor buildings and houses. Cant go inside to any if the buildings. Main house is used as recreation center for children. Nice gardens though.
I don't like when old stylish buildings are renovated with plastic windows. Looks terrible.
Every house is labeled and some of the houses are used as residential homes. A bit neglected...
You should visit it, if hiking on the trails, located west of the overpriced cable car north station.

The estate and beautiful mansion as well as the castle ruins are on the other side of the Gauja River and is best approached using the cable car. The manor house was built in 1848 and overlooks the valley. The castle ruins are not far from the house.

The period of manor's was not the best thing for the Latvian people, but such testimonies of history must be kept for future generations.

Krimulda estate is one where all buildings are maintained. The main building was a sanatorium for children with tuberculosis of bones. Nowadays there is a hostel and a possibility to have some physiotherapy procedures. A nice café is located in one of the farm buildings. There is also a winery "Cremon" in the same building. If you agree in advance, you can have some wine tasting before a possibility to buy some of them. There are nice walking passes in surroundings of Krimulda estate. You can reach Krimulda from Sigulda by bus, by cable car or walking through the nice Gauja river valley.

Definitely worth visiting - the buildings are historical and beautiful, the same can be said about the view over river Gauja.
