Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Town Hall overlooks Town Hall Square and is very central in Riga's Old Town. You cannot enter the town hall but there is a giant key to the city which is made up of many old keys donated by citizens of Riga. You can go to the shops underneath where there is a bike rental shop, amber shop, shop selling Latvian clothing, a waterfall art piece and a 3500 year old tree segment. The Town Hall is across the square from the House of the Blackheads and there are lots of souvenir shops around the square and to the northeast that have good and fair prices. When we visited there was a demonstration during the day and it is lit up at night to show support for Ukraine.

The City Hall building, the seat of the Riga City Council, is located on the Town Hall Square.
The original building from the 1850s was destroyed during World War II in 1941. The current City Hall is very new. It was completed in 2003.
The building itself is pretty to look at, but it is not open for visitors.

Part of our favorite squares in Riga, the building really comes to life at night. The green light hitting the building really makes it glow and stick out!

The city hall was a nice building. It didn’t look as old or as nice as the building directly across the square. It’s a lively part of old town.

The building is elegant. It is really one of the oldest buildings in Riga. Looking good even after some historical reconstructions.

Here in the Town Hall Square, in the core of the Old Town of Riga, stands proudly this City Council(Rigas Dome in latvian) or Riga City Hall.
That is the government of Riga City, the capital of Latvia. Square is called in latvian Ratslaukums.
The heads of Riga or the representatives of the town inhabitants were mentioned in documents already in 1210. So the legislature in Riga has got pretty long tradition. There is a tower with the clock, that is above the main building.
We were especially enchanted by the night view of this amazing building.
Not to miss.

The entire front of the building is under scaffolding so you can not see anything. I would say at least a few more months by the look of it. If your planing a trip around this, just take note you won't be able to see anything on the outside.

Nice and super central building. Amazing at night. In the heart of the city, just impossible to be missed while passing by.

We went to Town Hall Square, and noticed that it's Night of Museums 2016. A number of places were open for free and public in that festival, this city hall was one of it. It's really lucky for us. It was full of crowd though but I guess it's like that for a whole day.

During a walk of the old town, we felt we had the cobbled streets to ourselves as there was hardly anyone around. This is a very grand building, heavily damaged during WW2, it has been beautifully restored.
