I made a point to visit because two friends who live on 2 different continents had family who came from the Jewish community in Riga. It is a short walk from the market in the Zeppelin hangers ... The site is peaceful but sad to know the dark history behind the stones. It is a fitting tribute to those who... More

This is a sight every Jewish tourist to Riga should visit. It brings to life the horrors of the war and also serves as a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives here. Along with the nearby Riga Ghetto museum it should be seen.

Interesting place to visit to remember the mistakes of the past and to be conscious of the importance that wouldn't happen again.

We decided to visit the memorial site after visiting the Science academy which is very near. It is a very sad place. It is a very peaceful and feels almost surreal in contrast to the historical significance of the place. Worth visiting if you are interested in history or are Jewish.

Seeing the ruins, being faced with the history of the atrocities and seeing the memorial honoring the brave Latvians who stood up for what the believed in....it was a humbling and thought provoking experience. It is an easy walk past the Central Market.

The monument is situated near to the Science academy, so if you visit there, well worth walking an extra 500 yards. There is no graffiti and the area is clean, which is good. The ruins and monument are interesting to see, but extremely sad and sombre when you consider what happened at the site.

To stand within these ruins is quite humbling and to imagine the horror of those poor souls locked inside whilst it was burning is difficult in the extreme.
