The GF and I visited today and were amazed at the ornate decoration and icons of the cathedral. It's not really a tourist destination as it doesn't charge and the other visitors were saying prayers, but it is an amazing attraction

As capital cities go the cathedral is a bit disappointing but what was very special was attendig a concert when the fantastic organ (6,768 pipes) was played - very memorable.

This cathedral is equally as impressive on the outside as it is on the inside. Its golden domes can be seen from a distance. The interior is amazing and very colourful. Well worth a visit

This beautiful gold domed cathedral stands in a park area just outside the old city but takes five minutes to walk there from the freedom monument. It is unmissable as you approach, the gold dome and intricate architecture are stunning. There is free entry and inside does not disappoint. Absolutely wonderful

The cathedral was built in 1876, when Latvia was part of the Russian Empire and I have to say it's one of the most stunning cathedrals i have ever seen. I loved the design, its curved arches and gold roof.

A beautiful building, very ornate. Well worth a visit, free entrance. More like what you would expect from a Cathedral, lots of golden images and prayer areas. The golden domes outside are spectacular.

This is such a beautiful building, and the inside is even more amazing! Definitely worth a quick visit. LADIES- remember to cover your head with a scarf/ hat if possible. We saw a small sign on the door asking us to do this, and were thanked by quite a few of the ladies as we walked around.

Exciting! Every first Saturday of each month in the afternoon, the divine service will be held in the German language.
