Whether you call it Jugenstil or Art Nouveau, Riga is a great place to see every possible variation, and its streets are the very opposite of a English Georgian terrace.

Whilst "Albert St." is the must see, there are literally hundreds of other worthy buildings to admire in the surrounding City Blocks. For us the overall effect was to encourage us to find out more about Art Nouveau and Jugendstil. Veritable Feast for the Eyes!

Modern (Art Nouveau, Jugendstil) district must visit place for arch-lovers. Many modern buildings concentrated in one place keep your attention for a couple of hours.

A whole area with fantastic Jugend style buildings. One of them has a museumapartment that you can visit. And in the same house there is an open gallery-apertment at the top-floor. Very fine

I can't claim to know anything at all about architecture but I absolutely adored being transported back to the late 19th century. A third of all buildings in Riga follow this style and that's why its such a delight to walk around town.

I'm downright ashamed that only after visiting Riga for the second time (the first one was a quick breeze through the Old Riga) I learned about it's extensive Art Nouveau architecture. There's a whole Art Nouveau quarter full of beautiful buildings that just beg to...More

Really cool details of the jugenstyle buildings - dragons, mythical creatures, etc. Something from Barocco, rococo styles

Sorry, these old streets are very uneven and a lot of them are cobblestones that could be problematic for you. Perhaps your best bet would be the red hop on and off bus tour that has headphones in every language and see the... More
