- Pat L2 contributionsCharmingSimply an astonishing collection of cars and so many rarities!! Brezhnev's Royce... Russo balt. WOW! WOuld never have thought the museum could hold such vehicles on constant display! Next door there is an active race track too and perhaps at some summer days you can get to visit both in one go. Could be a great set.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 March 2024
- Deryn HWaterlooville, United Kingdom2,454 contributionsFantastic museumWhat a fantastic museum. The entrance to the museum is shaped like a Rolls Royce radiator, very clever. We were a group booking and were given a local guide to take us round. She spent one and a half hours telling us about all the unique vehicles, how they ran, why they changed and evolved, all sorts of interesting facts and managed to keep the group listening to her the whole way round which was unusual for our group as they usually lose interest after a while. They also had a merchandising shop where I bought a T shirt as a very reasonable price.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 14 June 2024
- AandersendkCopenhagen, Denmark52 contributionsGreat - even if you are not into carsThis place is located a bit out of the city centre - however easy reachable with eg. A Bolt /Taxi - which we used(driving time ca 20min /11euro). The exhibition is on 3 floors lots of cars From 1885 -> today. There is also a small Shop and a restaurant at the place. Recommended, even if you are not interested in carsVisited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 14 July 2024
- TheDumbuserDudelange, Luxembourg70 contributionsGreat collectionFor some reason, I've always had the feeling that our modern cars keep getting bigger and bigger. In fact, looking at the fantastic collection of luxurious cars from the early day, it must be said that cars have become rather smaller over time. And that's actually a shame. In addition to old cars, there is also a very nice collection of Soviet cars, some of which are funny to see in a museum, because there are countries where these cars are in daily use and are even considered modern by local standards. However, it was not the cars that evoked the most memories, but an old payphone in the corner. How did these machines become history so unnoticed...Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 26 August 2024

I can put this in simple terms. If you’re visiting Riga, this is a must see place. Getting there is easy by the number 35 bus, and the €10 admission fee is well worth it.
There are some beautiful exhibits, and most of the information is in three languages.
Your admission ticket also allows you to go out and back in as many times as you want throughout the day. Absolutely brilliant.

We really enjoyed visiting the Riga Motor Museum. There were cars we had never seen or heard of before. The interpretation was great with interactive screens to learn about the cars. We really liked the StandwithUkraine stickers in the Kremlin collection. The free lockers (just need a 1 Euro coin) are great to leave your belongings and enjoy the museum. The cafe was a good spot to enjoy a drink and snack, although the hot meal special looked great too.
You can easily reach the museum on public transport via the 15, 35 or 21 bus. It takes around 30 minutes from the central market area of Riga to reach the museum.

I love a good museum and the motor museum in Riga didn't disappoint. I didn't expect to find one of the rarest cars in the world here. The only Auto Union CD supercharged V16 race car from around 1937. Around 520hp and 200 mph with rock hard skinny tyres, no power anything, dubious brakes and only a massive steering wheel for support. The phrase massive testicular fortitude springs to mind! The rest of the collection is also hugely impressive and features vehicles from manufacturers I've never heard of, let alone seen before. I knew of the the Tatra rear engined air cooled V8 of the late 40s but I've never seen one in captivity. Even if you're not an anorak you can't help but appreciate the beauty and style of this collection. The cafe is also excellent and ten Euros bought us a very tasty 2 course lunch each. I'd allow 4 hours of you want to take it all in properly as there is lots to read on the helpful multilingual touch screens. For me it's a must do in what is a great city. We took the 35 bus from town to the door in about 35 minutes. A five day bus/trolley/tram pass is ten Euros and worth every penny.

This is possibly the best car museum my family has visited. My son is huge fan of cars - so we have been to many. The museum is large and modern. The collection of cars i outstanding and there are many displays about how cars funciton. We ranged from 10 to 80 in age of visitor and everyone loved it. If you have an interest in cars, take a few hours (2-3) to visit this museum. It was an easy cab ride from old town.

A recently renovated motor museum.
Wonderful museum. The cars are all in pristine condition. Very interesting to see some of the soviet cars. Great opportunity to see cars you wouldn’t see in other motor museums.
I particularly liked how each car had a touch screen which provided easy to read information. There was no long winded mass paragraphs. There was also the history of the individual car too on the majority of them. The touch screens could be easily changed to 4 different languages.
€10 entry each which was really reasonable for what you got.
The locker system they have in place is also excellent.
We got a bus from the centre of Riga which stopped outside some blocks of flats and it was about a 5/10 minute walk down to the museum itself. The museum is a bit out of the centre, but is easily accessible .

A little out of the way. Take the 35 bus instead of a taxi which cost 30 euros each way. Well worth the trip though as this is a well appointed museum for car buffs. The cost was 10 euros for all day. There are the usual suspects from mainland Europe and the USA but the highlights are the vehicles from behind the old iron curtain. There are makes from Germany and the USSR, some which I had never heard of or likely to see in another museum. Of particular interest were the limousines of previous russian presidents (Stalin, Lenin and Breshnev). Each car had a small history in various languages next to it so that you knew what you were looking at. There are activities for children if need be.
I recommend that you buy your fridge magnets here as they are a lot cheaper than in the old town.

The cars were quite nice, but there was not much to do. I think we walked it through in ~30 minutes, so rather expensive for such a short time.
However, a true entusiast could problably value it more than I did...

We had a very nice visit to the museum today. First of all, the service and considerations for the COVID-19 guidelines were very good. The staff were wearing face covers, there was clear information on social distancing and there were gloves and handsanitizer available. The exhibit was very nice, with a lot of information and some very unique cars. We very much appreciated one of the staff approaching us and offering more information about the 'Frankenstein' car.

Fabulous museum with some incredible vehicles I'd never seen before. Unlike similar automobile museums in western Europe or in the USA there was obviously a far larger range of Russian or Soviet era vehicles and brands to see - which even to myself (not a car fanatic!) were clearly different and unusual compared to my own knowledge of older cars! Discovered names of cars and drivers that I'd never heard of. The museum is beautiful, modern and really well laid out. The staff were extremely kind too as one of us had a sudden nose bleed and had to be allowed out and back in again to urgently rush to the toilet. Really warm welcome and a great day out.

Hello,
is it possible to take your dog together with you in the museum? On a leash, of course.
Written 31 July 2020
Far too late for you, but I suggest a question like this would best be asked to the museum itself. I am just a foreign visiter, so how should I know?
