Get close up and hands on with all the classic aircraft here. I got to sit in cockpit of many fighters and I enjoyed going inside the Huge soviet era helicopter. This museum is maintained by a small group of volunteers who really have a passion for aviation and it shows.

What an experience! Its adjacent to the Riga airport; if you are driving, park in the short stay car park and walk for 5 minutes, or if you are lucky you might find a spot just outside the 'Museum' Although the 'Museum" will have a sign saying its open, you will need to ring the bell, and a guy will... Located less than 5 minutes from the airport terminal, it is an outside museum, like most, if not all, aviation museums across the former USSR. The taxi dropped us at the main entrance: an old beat up rusted gate with a sign to ring the bell and wait. In a few minutes, somebody came, we paid our 7 euro entrance... More

I visited the museum at the back end of the year during December. When i arrived, I came to a gate that was closed so I assumed that the museum was closed for winter. However, there was a bell next to the gate so I rung it and waited. About 2 minutes later, a man came up to the gate... More

Called in to view the Museum after arriving by air - about 5 min walk from the Terminal Building. There are certainly an interesting selection of items on display for the dedicated enthusiast, but the place struck me as being more like a scrapyard that an admission fee is charged for rather than what I would call a Museum. The... More

Place run down and more like a scrapyard. Some aircraft hidden by trees and larger aircraft could not be viewed due to being too... More

As an aviation buff this was what first made me want to go to Riga - the only place outside Russia where you can see a Tupolev strategic nuclear bomber. There are about 40 Soviet aircraft - MiG fighters, Mil helicopters including the MASSIVE Mil-6 which could seat over 90 people, transports and airliners. They are all outside, so a... More

Highly recommend it if you are nearby. Located right outside Riga's Airport, this was a great way to kill some time and see some cool Eastern European aircraft! As soon as you exit the airport, turn left and after a five minute walk, you will reach the entrance. Once you see the gate, go ahead and ring that buzzer! I... More

We went to the aviation museum after passing it on the bus on the way back to the airport. To get there is less than a 5 minute walk to left of the airport as you come out of the terminal building. When you get there you have to ring the bell for the curator to come. Some people on... More
