We climbed a section of the old wall near the Kodulinna maja across from an elementary school. Spiral staircases brought us up into old towers. Some with no visibility and steep steps. This would be a delight for children. To really let their imaginations run...More

I'm a bit confused here - as there are TWO sections of the wall you can pay to walk along. I am reviewing the section known as the Hellermann Tower and Town Wall Walkway, near the Viru Gate (near Maccas), just to be sure. For...More

As much as I enjoyed the historic buildings, I found the wall to be the most interesting relic of the past. The winding stairway up the wall is a challenge. I loved the cute cafe half way to the top. The old trees and lovely...More

There are several places you can climb up onto the wall, and get into the towers, which is highly recommended and well worth the effort.

The walls and towers of this midieval city are well maintained and set it apart from most cities in Western Europe. Best view of the walls is from atop Toompea Hill at the various observation spots. We took the Patkuli switchback stairs down to the...More

Loved how hands on this experience was. Lots of descriptive detail in the wall plaques. You could imagine how it would have benn originally used. Fabulous views of old town.

Access to the wall is by spiral staircases so one has to make sure no-one is coming the opposite way as the steps are narrow. Each section has to paid for individually and isn't very long but it is worth doing.

Situated in the middle of the town this wall is a great piece of the history of Tallinn. A lot of locals are offering there goods here, paintings, knitting - a lot of products made of wool. Great to walk around and take a look.

There are free bits and bits that have a small charge. We paid for a small section because there were other things to see there,. You just need to wander around the town and everthing is clearly signed and you just stumble... More
