The Square was a little crowded when I first visited it. This church attracted my attention due to its prominent location, high steeple, beautiful stained - glass windows, and a clock outside. Recommended to visit it!

The Holy Spirit Church or Holy Ghost Church was built in the early 13th century. The tower has been reconstructed twice after fires in 1684 and 2002. The galleries inside are very decorative with scenes from the Bible. There is a commemorative plaque next to the altar in memory of British sailors who gave their lives in the British Campaign in the Baltic (1918-19). We were lucky to be able to attend a concert by the duo Rondellus who played a variety of old instruments. The church visit and concert were very special indeed!

The 13th century Holy Spirit Church of Tallinn was unassuming but striking in its simplicity. Its ornate main altar was suspended and a true work of art. Probably most known for its outdoor clock, Holy Spirit was definitely worth the visit.

It is amazing to think that not too many years ago all of these churches were property of the Soviet Union and there were no services being held here. We went in the middle of an organ practice and it was wonderful. I am so happy for the freedom of religion.

We passed by it several times because it’s near the main square in The Old Town. It’s from 14th century. It has plain white walls outside but also an interesting painted clock. It’s worth a visit.

Its unassuming size and place in the town belies its importance as it was here that the very first sermons were given in the Estonian language after the Reformation, and where i believe the church's pastor of the time translated and published what is thought to be the first book in Estonian.
What is most likely to catch your eye if you don't go inside the church is the exquisite carved clock on the exterior, the figures in each corner represent the four gospels.

We had passed this Church several times before it jumped out and said come in. Glad we did. The inside is respectfully decorated and adorned with many wooden sculptures, wooden decor and paintings. Has a special feeling not like other churches witnessed in this area. Yes, The clock outside makes a statement too. Look closely to then center you will see a small square door when you see it in person ask what it is. (little surprises are good)

This church is the oldest in Tallinn and is well worth the 1 euro charge to get in. It has an old clock on the outside near the entrance and inside the balconies are painted in a beautiful way with scenes from the bible. These pictures around the church are known as the "paupers bible". During our visit to the church we were also rewarded with a lovely mini concert with a singer and the organ. It was really lovely to listen to the church fill with music.

This is easily the best church in Tallinn - if you only visit one then make it this one. Make sure to go up the stairs to the next level.

I wasn't sure what to expect but this church was interesting enough; the spiral stairs up to the second level area was interesting and many of the artifacts within the church were of interest. It’s a bit hit or miss when it comes to visiting a church; some are free and some have a entrance fee. To enter this church, it was $1.50€ and you can tell the church is in need of funds for upkeep, so I really didn't have an issue with this. I was surprised to see another tourist about have a "fit" due to the entrance fee. In the grand scheme of things, $1.50€ is very reasonable.

Are there concerts held in this Church, if so what days. Thank you
Written 21 September 2018
The regular concerts at on Monday evenings from 6-7 pm, but having visited this church twice this year the organ is often being practised on outside that time.
In addition, it is used for other concerts from time to time - the internet is probably the best source of information for those.
