Really pleasant day out, lots to see and do. Sculptures are great on hill of witches and in town. Just one drawback, traffic at weekends is terrible. Waited hours for ferry leaving spit because everyone eĺse on the spit was leaving at same time. Boat...More

After using the ferry from Klaipeda to the spit there is a amazing nature along it. including a huge wandering dune. At the end of the spit you can visit Nidda, where the former home of Thomas Mann is situated.

Drove through the forest, visited church, hiked up Witches Hill to see the carvings and stopped by the beach. Crossed over on ferry and water was mirror smooth on this beautiful day.

It is easy to see why this is the holiday location of choice for Lithuanians. We were here in August (mainly for work but with some good leisure time thrown in) and our Lithuanian colleagues felt the place was crowded. Coming from the Uk we...More

Bursting with great beaches, hiking and biking, and pretty seaside villages, the Curonian Spit has it all. This area is a Must Visit in Klaipeda. Expect to invest at least an entire day. Plan activities ahead.

We went to nida for this and although we weren't able to explore much... Just being able to see the spit and the many other natural and man-made wonders here made our trip from Vilnius worthwhile.

The Curonian spit is about 90 kilometers long but only a kilometer or so wide. The northern half is in Lithuania and the southern in Russia. The Lithuanian half is very well maintained. All woodland with the Baltic on one side and the lagoon on...More

Take the cheap ferry from Klaipeda across to the peninsula to visit the Neringa National Park- 11.50 Euros return for 2 plus car. Drive about 20 km to the park entrance-20 Euros- and then go straight down to Nida, very close. To the border with...More

Great dramatic sandy beaches. Perfect for swimming, or just relaxing. Easy to find isolated spots, or you can join in with the very hospitable locals who will want to share food and drink (especially drink) with you. Make sure you reciprocate...take along some snacks or...More

Without doubt, the Curonian Spit is a wonder of bountiful Mother Nature, host to the delightful and surprising Kursiu Nerija National Park, which stretches for about 30 km down to the Russian border. This narrow spit of coastal dune sand forms a natural barrier to...More

I agree with Jon: Villages are accesible. You can enjoy plenty of places just by car and I am almost sure that The observatory of the big rolling sand dune of Parnidis is also accesible at least as far as the sundial (there... More

Helen, we were there on a cruise 2 years ago and wanted to do exactly what you describe. However, after much research, we decided to rent a car and make the drive ourselves, which turned out to be a great decision. We rented... More

There are two crossing points to the Spit. I suspect your ship will moor at the little ferry crossing (no cars). The public transport buses cross from the main terminal and larger ferry crossing point. Bus travel is in... More
