Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to go inside the abbey but there are some spectacular views of Lake Balaton from outside the abbey! Many small shops selling lavender, paprika, souvenirs and ceramics dot the streets of this picturesque village. There is also an ice-cream...More

On top of Tihany there's the Abbey, with magnificent views over the shore line. The building is quite interesting and the museum provides a good glimpse over the life and work of the monks.

Beatifull baroque church with the exhibition in the basement. Exhibition nicely organized with the parts dedicated to children. Descriptions mainly available in other languages (EN, DE, RU) but not in all places.

We had a nice visit in this abbey and visited also the restaurant. The church and the surrounding area was very clean and the view over lake Balaton is amazing. I would visit this place again.

The Benedictine Abbey is located on the top of the high hill and visible from far away. From outside it looks neat and impressive. It is the only place that will stay in memory besides lavender beer :)
