The road trains in Hungary are usually a good way to get your bearings before exploring on foot. This one is no different. It's perfectly adequate but that's about it. No better or worse than any of the others we visited.

Take the train, it's cheap, it's convenient and it's fun. Don't be tempted to save yourself some money and walk, you'll be exhausted it'll take you for ever and it's not worth it. I love this little train.

Tihany is perched on a hill and represents a very kitch and touristy "old" Hungarian village. Crammed with eateries and paprika shops the prices are sharp and access is by the road train from the harbour. Tour buses roll in around 11am so be warned...More

If you have not enough time, you should travel with it, because balatonfured big, but I think on foot it's much better.
