Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We took a day trip to Szentendre and one of the places we visited was the Margit Kovac Museum. She was born in Hungary in 1902 and died in 1977. When she died she bequeathed a significant selection of her work with instructions for a museum to be opened in Szentendre. Her work is beautiful. She had a strong relationship with her mother who is depicted in a number of her statues. Her work comprised of pots, plates, mural tiles, statues and wall plates. Really enjoyed looking at her work which has lovely flowing lines.

Visited as an extra excursion from our river cruise. Well worth the added fee to see the works of this amazing artist. We especially enjoyed the video showing her creating one of her pieces, which made us appreciate even more the specific works we saw in the museum.

Sventendre was a sweet little artist community. I had not heard of Margit Kovacs, and really was not a fan of ceramics, until I visited her museum. She gave her pieces such emotion. They could bring laughter or a tear to your eye (i.e. Mother & Daughter). I wish they would have let us take pictures or have postcards of her work. A truly memorable visit!

You must see that little town call: Szentendre.
Szentendre is an attractive, picturesque old town is a treasure of the Danube Bend.
It is filled with romantic air and atmosphere. We walked all the way through the narrow alleys and passed by the old historical houses and churches day after day.
It is a town of the arts, and museums.
Margit Kovacs museum was one of our top experiences. She is a famous Hungarian artist, potter and sculptor.
It is an amazing, unique exhibition about her life and work. Once you step in you find yourself in a different world. We stayed for hours on end there, but wasn’t enough.
We would love to come back over again and again. We highly recommend.

The museum is in a wonderful building whose character helps bring out the power and earthiness of Margit Kovacs' pottery. A google search will show you examples of her work. As a ceramist myself, I was blown away by her technique almost as much as by life she put into each piece. Szentendre is a very cute town, a small train ride north of Budapest, and this museum is a must-see.

Touchy and cordial art of Magrit Kovacs was a surprise. She has no mediocre works, not at all, You carry memory about this exposition for days. I never heard about her before, my friend recommended me to visit and it is my recommendation now. I love her art. For sure it is not old masters, but it is so warm and it riches the best parts of your soul. The city is nice, food is excellent, what else to desire?

It is a beautiful museum, but at a price of 1500Hf for an adult ticket it seemed just a little bit too dear in comparison to many other attractions/museums in Budapest. Maybe I was just miffed that photos weren't allowed under any circumstances. I'm a potter myself and would have loved to glance at my own photos of her work as inspiration. I also wasn't a huge fan of being followed around the entire time by the security men. I know they're around to prevent damage to the works, but there has to be a better way to do it.

That said the exhibition of her work is beautiful, but you won't need more than ~30-45 minutes to see the entire museum.

This is a wonderful Museum and well worth a visit if in Szentendre to visit any other places of interest. Margit's work has beautiful lines and flows - you can see from her work how she loved working with the materials. The video of her working gives a unique insight into this gifted woman - don't miss it.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this museum on our day trip to Szentendre. My only regret was that they did not have a catalogue for purchase. Very friendly staff and there is even a section where kids can handle some exhibits. A very welcoming and lovely place.
