We had a wonderful time on our Easy Cooking Budapest Class that included a tour at the Grand Market. Tunde, our instructor was knowledgable and fun!
We had a very informative shopping tour of the market. We tasted and learned about many local foods, flavors and spices while gathering the ingredients for our Hungarian feast.
After we went to a lovely location and prepared our delicious four course meal. We also tasted local wines and spirits.
I would definitely recommend experience to anyone visiting Budapest. It was a highlight of our trip!

An absolutely rewarding experience!

The two of us decided to sign up for our very first cooking class with Cecilia at Easy Cooking Budapest. We were a little nervous because we don't really know how to cook but the thought of learning how to cook a genuine Hungarian goulash was too hard to miss. Cecilia communicated clearly and fast when I booked.

When we met, we took a short tour of a local farmers' market and tried delicious samples of local produce (cheese, salami, nuts, and honey, etc). We then travelled to the pretty apartment to get the cooking under way! This didn't feel like a 'class' with a teachers and students; it was a freely flowing cooking experience which felt more like a close friend or relative showing you how to cook their prized recipes...

Cecilia is very friendly and caring. She is easy to talk to and enjoyed learning about our travels and normal life. Cecilia explained little tips and tricks and some of the history behind the dishes which helped a lot.

We were first welcomed in to the apartment with some Hungarian palinka and delicious Hungarian wine. We snacked on some cheese and salami from the market while we got started. We learnt how to make the following brilliant Hungarian dishes; kőrözött (cottage cheese dip), gulyás (beef goulash), chicken paprikás with nokedli (simple fresh pasta) and the mákosguba (bread pudding with poppy seeds).

Without exaggeration, these were some of the most delicious dishes I've eaten in a long time! We were even more impressed that we made them! The wine kept coming and we ate as much of every dish that we could fit in. At the end of the afternoon, Cecilia packed our leftover food in takeaway containers for us and gave us printed copies of the recipes. We didn't have to clean up the mess we made and left, smiling, and carrying our freshly made food to devour tomorrow!

This is definitely worth doing. Tips: Don't eat before going... save room for the food and drink! Relax and enjoy the wine, conversation and experience of making your own massive Hungarian meal. Anyone of any cooking ability can do this.

Have fun and do something constructive with your time in beautiful Budapest!

My husband and I enjoyed this class. From the start communication via email was good and any questions I had were answered promptly. We enjoyed the market tour and were given tasting plates of bread, salami and desserts which we enjoyed. It was interesting to learn about the different ingredients. We then got in a taxi to the kitchen where we learnt how to make a 4 course meal.

We were given wines and extra cheese etc whilst we cooked and had the opportunity to take left overs home.

I think we were lucky as there were only 3 of us in the group.

The only thing I would say is it did work out to £170 for 2 people. I think if the group was any bigger I might have been disappointed due to paying that price.

We started the tour in the great market hall and we were introduced to many locals food including various salamis, pastries, paprika as well as some historical facts on the hall

After that, the cooking class was super fun and easy with the help of our instructors - Kata and Rita. We made gulyás, chicken paprikas, and some Hungarian desserts. Had a wonderful time learning about Hungarian food and culture.

Definitely would recommend if you are visiting Budapest!

Loved that we started off at a Ruin bar for their Sunday market. Small, local merchants and be sure to buy paprika while you're there to take home. Then off we went by taxi to the kitchen.
Kata was excellent at both explaining what was for sale at the market and giving clear, helpful guidance as we prepared and cooked our meal. The Hungarian wine was very good and for sure helped us to cook a great meal! Best of all, we got to eat the fruits of our labour.
We were 5 ladies - 2 from Switzerland, 2 from Canada and 1 from England. That was the perfect number so that everyone always had a job to do.
I've now been home for 3 weeks and made the Hungarian soup which was my favourite. My husband loved it and wants to know when I'm going to make it again! Wait til he tastes my chicken paprikas!

We had a lovely time with our instructor Zsuzsa and small group! Taking a market walk was the perfect way to start our culinary afternoon, and having the chance to taste some of the different products really made the experience special. Back in the kitchen, we prepared four courses: cheese dip, vegetable soup with tarragon and cream, chicken paprikash with egg dumplings and "floating islands" for dessert. The kitchen is perfectly set up for hosting classes, very well equipped and well lit (good for taking lots of photos!). Zsuzsa was exceptionally kind, patient and knowledgable. My husband and I agreed that this is the best cooking class experience we've had abroad!

My husband and I did this 1/2 day course and thoroughly enjoyed it. We loved the inclusive market tour and tastings and learning the history of the foods. Preparing the recipes, cooking, learning about different paprikas was interesting. Eating your meal was good and we took the left overs home with us. Our hotel kindly reheated the soup and delicious paprika chicken that night.
On return to Australia, I had a dinner party for seven and made the soup and paprika chicken, with paprika from the Budapest market.... deliciousness.
Thank you

That was one of the best cooking classes we’ve ever taken. Kata is absolutely the best and the conversation just awesome. We truly felt treated to a five star experience with Kata and the other participants.

Rather than going out to eat at a traditional Hungarian restaurant, we decided to try out this cooking class and make it our own! The class began with a walk through of the market where we got to sample a few things and shop for the ingredients we would later be cooking with. Kata was our instructor and she was wonderful! She walked us through all of the steps to cooking the meal and knew a lot about Budapest in general. You'll get plenty of food and drink during this class so come hungry! You won't need to eat the rest of the day!
