A unique bar in the heart of the city. The best beers from the eastern part of Europe and a wide selection from the famous Hungarian spirit: Palinka. Visit us and get familiar with the communist part of our history in a funny way you have never had...more

Really friendly bar staff and good value drinks and happy hours. The decor and decorations are interesting - graffiti styled ironic communist propaganda. We visited several times during our stay in Budapest and will definitely go back. A relaxed atmosphere.

Red Ruin Bar is somewhat of a hidden gem, lots of locals here. and surely like no bar you have visited before :) Very small inside and not much seating, but a good range of drinks available. Anti- communist/ sarcastic humour. This bar has a...More

This is a *bar*, more local dive than ruin pub. It has some interesting sarcastic Soviet decorations and is worth a walk through. If you like what the special of the day is, it may be a good deal. Kitsch is really what they are...More

This is a pub with a definite theme. Was easygoing and prices reasonable. Open very late, wide selection of beers and “specials” on different nights

I went here in the early afternoon one day intending to have one or two beers and move on. I knew about the art etc (tongue in cheek communism/socialism themed, lots of jokes and visual puns. Very smartly done). I went up to the bartender...More

This is an exotic place for people who want to drink a beer after 10:30pm, are intrigued by the commie hipster places, or just have no better plan after 10. It's nice at all, especially to watch football matches.

Small friendly bar with some excellent beers and the company of the major communist party leaders. I found Lenin quite deep and sombre whilst Stalin did a neat trick with a knife on his fingers and Chairman Mao was mostly sleepy

Loved this bar. Very friendly welcome and the guy running the place knew a huge amount about the many specialist bottled beers on offer and could recommend for particular tastes. We went back a few times and will definitely be going back on my next...More

We cannot recommend this bar enough. Bar man was amazing, so friendly and helpful. Huge selection of craft beers, cocktails and draught beers. Happy hour was good too, where a Steiner of beer was 550HUF. We stopped on three occasions for drinks here and thoroughly...More

Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube,
with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The
Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica
stand out as two of the finest examples of
architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for
more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval
city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while
the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention
