Budapest is full of charms, so you need quite amount of time to look around. However, if you have time more than 2 days, I think this area is good for you to take a rest from citi-side, and enjoy the beautiful view from out of the city.

We were not that impressed with this statue. It was very nice and had some significance, but we liked other ones better.

This is the Hungarian Queen Elizabeth from Hungarian history and not either British Queen Elizabeth The statue is somewhat hidden so one would have to know where to look or be walking past towards gallert hill This is of historical importance so is worth having a look

After crossing elisabeth bridge on the way to gellert hill you will find it. In a small nice garden-park you can rest and then continue to the hill.

Whether it's worth venturing into the island in the middle of an enormous roundabout to see this statue is debatable but the affection for the Empress Elizabeth from the people of Budapest is undeniable. If you've walked across the Elizabeth Bridge or down from the Gellert monument you can take a peek at the statue if you like. Not on... More

The statue commemorates an assassinated Queen set in a small garden across the bridged named for her. While not outstanding it is a source of pride and sadness for the Hungarian people and is worth seeing if you are near by.

Coming of the Elizabeth Bridge you will descend into the Park and this iconic Bronze Statue of Queen Elizabeth..(Hungarian Queen not Brits)..This a pretty little park and a great way to make your way to the castle district and the Varkert Bazaar ( The Jewel of the Danube)..Across the tram rails is Dobrentei Square and a terraced restaurant and bar... A statue to commemorate Queen Elisabeth and the bridge with the same name. The Austro Hungarian Queen who was assassinated. As far as statues go , not amazing but nevertheless worth looking at if passing by.

This is a lovely statue located at the base of Gellert Hill of QUeen Elizabeth. There is nothing really special except the location and makes a nice photo. The view is spectacular however occupying a prominent spot above the river on the Buda side.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighbourhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
