Keleti train station is one of the main train stations in Budapest. There is also an associated metro transfer station on the M2 and M4 lines. The building is huge but in need of a facelift. In front of the station, there is an impressive statue of Gabor Baross, the Hungarian statesman and main proponent of Hungarian railways at the... More

Trains to outside of Hungary leave from this station. It is advisable to reach the station an hour before the scheduled departure of the train so as to locate the train at the correct platform. The giant scree at the entrance shows all the trains, however the respective platform numbers are shown only 30 mins before the departure. Also platforms... More

Budapest-Keleti pályaudvar is a very old building in historical architecture. It's definitely cool to roam around, an eyecatcher. On the other hand this is it, there is not much more to do than feeling the budapest vibe.

What can you say it's a railway station. It's an imposing building but again there no disabled access only steps to get in. This seems to be a problem all over Budapest. The entrance hall to the side is very grand.

A lovely old station with a mix of old and new trains, the old train is an old Russian train from around the 70's.....

We travelled from here to Bratislava while in Budapest. The station is an attractive building. It is easy to get to by foot or tram / bus. It has a sense of former grandeur about it which has faded a little, but doesn't take much imagination to reinvigorate. The actual train services from here are good. Electronic ticket machines with... More

It's looks great until you step inside. It looks like it has not been cleaned up since it was destroyed in WWII. I had to walk out of the station and across the street just to get a cup of coffee. There are not any shops in the station and only a few kiosks that serve questionable food. We found... More

Proper railway station. The outside in nothing short of magnificent with its architecture and open frontage. Sadly once you have got over that, it is a bit of a mess. Just looking is fun....using it for its purpose might be difficult as there is little concession for tourists.
