We had the pleasure of a cruise down the Danube in May. We started in the magical city of Budapest and left the city at night with all the major buildings along the Danube illuminated. What a beautiful sight. A very pretty trip down a lovely river with lots of hidden gems along the way.

Of course a boat ride is romantic and pleasant, but I find that just a stroll along the river is just as wonderful. Along the Pest side, from the Intercontinental Hotel down past the Marriott you will find a wonderful walking path lined with outdoor cafes, many featuring live music. Be sure to secure your table before sunset so that... More

Took a Danube River Cruise thru Mayflower tours, the "major airline" was Lot Polish Airlines, had to fly in & out of Warsaw, Poland which was out of the way in both directions, 2 hr delay leaving with no explanation. Cruise part on Emerald Waterways was good, Ambassador Hotel in Prague was horrible, 90 degrees outside & no AC in... More

We were looking forward to a boat trip on this famous river....well, I wouldn't bother. Budapest is a relatively small city and its river...is wet, green/grey but no blue that we could see.

There is a beautiful boat trip up the Danube to Szentendre. Watch out because some of them can be very expensive: we used Silverline, which you can book on line, at less than half the price of some others but perfectly fine. Very relaxing.

Fantastic way to see the city of Budapest a boat trip £12 for a 90 min trip with free drink onboard and headphones in multi lingual to tell the history and the various places to look for. Great day out for the family especially in the warm weather.

We did both and I must admit I enjoyed both. Obviously the night time has all the lights which show off the buildings to their best. Must admit the name Blue Danube made us smile as it's anything but blue even in the sunlight.

We booked this River Night Time Cruise with Viator and it certainly was value for money. They supplied us with blankets and we could order drinks as we sailed along the Danube River. We saw Buda and Pest at their best with all the buildings lit up. Wonderful experience.

How nice can be a river? It flows, but its coasts are full of architectural marvels. Take a cruise on the Danube at night!

Magnificent view from the Danube to the hills of Buda and to the buildings of Pest. Also the view of the numerous bridges is great.
